I'm pretty sure that most non-Asian people have not heard of this type of umbrella cookies that I'm talking about, but that's why I'm sharing them with you! (Not literally; I don't even know where you live! :P)
These cookies are pretty nostalgic for me since I remember eating them a lot when I was a kid. I still love eating them to this day, but since it's mainly sold in really big Asian stores, it's hard to buy, so I always end up slowly savoring the packs that I do get.
They're really crunchy with this distinct taste that I have no idea how to describe, lol. I don't know about most people, but for me, I can really taste the flavor after chewing it for a bit, after I bite into the little seeds, which are the little black and white things in the cookie.
And the cookies got their name from their shape. This is one side.
This is the same cookie flipped over.
If you ever happen to see a pack of these, I suggest you try them! These cookies have more of a subtle flavor, so you're probably either going to like them or just hate them because they might be too bland or something for you...
I really want to eat some of these now... D:
How interesting! I wonder if they puff up into that shape as they bake. I'm trying to visit all the A-Z Challenge Blogs this month. My alphabet is at myqualityday.blogspot.com

ReplyDeleteThe flavor is sesame - which are what the seeds are. Nice, nutty type of flavor, plus some anise, clove, a little bit of pepper and some cinnamon notes. Very tasty!
ReplyDeleteI bought these in several asian food stores, really crunchy not alot of flavor to me.
