Movie Review: Epic

Title: Epic
Running time: 102 minutes
Release date: May 24, 2013
Rating: PG
Summary taken from IMDb:
A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and the forces of evil is taking place. She bands together with a rag-tag group characters in order to save their world -- and ours.
4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

I went into this movie with no expectations and little to no knowledge about the plot other than the fact that it was supposed to be epic and an animated movie. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself really enjoying the movie.

Lately, whenever I think about wanting to watch a kid's movie, I usually get turned off because of how immature everything is, but EPIC was the total opposite. Yeah, some characters were brash and stubborn in the beginning, but it was an instrumental part of themselves, and watching their character growth was very satisfying.

Also, EPIC had the perfect blend of action and humor to keep the movie interesting. I just loved the slugs; they were the best comic relief!

Actually, I think that the movie had the best side characters. Most of them could have been expanded upon more, but they all played important roles in the movie whether it was to move the plot forward, provide advice, or just plain comic relief.

And the pacing was great. Not too slow, and not too fast.

In addition, the animation and art was flawless. The scenery and characters were beautifully rendered, and the execution was amazing.

ASDFKJKL; TEEN WOLF ;__;

I'm just gonna have a little meltdown right now because I'm still not over this week's episode of Teen Wolf no matter how much Shanice and I talked about it.

Shanice and I have a ton of questions, and it's only the fourth episode; each episode creates more and more questions that we're going crazy, lol. And we're finally starting to get to some answers, but even they aren't legit answers, at least not yet.

And the commercials! There are so many commercial breaks it's ridiculous! I swear, we're there are more commercials than the actual show itself. :\ Every time show reveals something important, there's another commercial break, and then we check the time and see that there's only 15 minutes of the show left. >:|

And the teacher, Ms. Blake, she better not be some random love interest, because that is not okay. I'm pretty sure that she's somehow in on this whole mystery.

SCISAAC. SO MANY SCISAAC FEELS THIS SEASON, I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO REACT. LAST SEASON HAD A FEW MOMENTS, BUT I DID NOT THINK I WOULD EVER SHIP THOSE TWO UNTIL THIS EPISODE HAPPENED.

I'm definitely loving Isaac in general this season. Poor puppy, he's been abused since the first episode, and then the whole Derek thing had to happen, and I was so upset.

Also, I don't know if it's because Shanice told me that Daniel Sharman, the guy who plays Isaac, is actually British, but I can totally hear his accent come out sometimes during this season. It's so cute, lol. He's so cute. >__<

But yeah, I was talking to my coworkers about Teen Wolf the other day, and Cam said that his friend was trying to get him into Teen Wolf too so he had a little marathon of the first season (he has two episodes left and admits to how addicting it is XD), and I was like, YES YOU NEED TO WATCH IT IT GETS BETTER WITH EVERY SEASON. I'm going to get the both of them to watch Teen Wolf and suffer with me. XD

But seriously, I did not sign up for this. This is an MTV show. It's just supposed to be a stupid TV show about werewolves. I was not prepared for all of the pain this show has inflected on me. Or all of the feels. ;__;

That said, I definintely recommend everyone to watch Teen Wolf because it's awesome. The first season was pretty good, although Stiles was the reason why I continued to watch it after the first episode, lol. The second season was amazing, and this season is proving to be one big confusing mindfuck, lol. But every season is confusing until the end, it was just easier to deal with since the whole season was already on Netflix so that you didn't have to wait every week to find out what's going on (and look! no commercials :P).

And really, this show is just full of pretty people. Just look!

And because of this last episode, I've been sucked into reading Teen Wolf fanfics! I've spent way too much time reading when I should have been studying. :c

Kpop Appreciation Post: EXO, Henry, VIXX

I'm still behind on Kpop stuff because I keep on getting distracted by other things, but thanks to the many people I follow tumblr, I get some Kpop news, lol.

Like how EXO finally had their comeback last month! :D

When I first heard their title track, "Wolf," I didn't think that it was that good, but every time I listened to it, I liked it more and more, lol. It really grew on me. XD

I loved the fact that they're promoting this song as one group instead of being in subunits like they did with "Mama," but at the same time, I'm disappointed that a lot of the members don't have many lines now that they're splitting the song into 12 parts. But I'm really digging choreography even though the swaying tree in the beginning was kind of an odd start, lol.

Henry has a solo mini-album! I was super surprised to hear about this, lol, but I was totally not complaining. It came out not too long ago, and I still haven't had a chance to listen to all of his songs yet, but I watched his music video and totally love it--and not just because it also features Taemin and Kyuhyun, two of my other favorite biases. :P

The song was really catchy, although I thought that Henry's pronunciation was a little accented at times? I'm not sure if it was since I obviously don't know Korean all that well, but it just seemed like he sounded like he was singing in Mandarin at times. Maybe he was???

But I loved the dance and the fact that Taemin and Kyuhyun were in it. They all sounded so good and they looked so good. XD Another thing that shocked me how similar Henry looked like Sunggyu from Infinite when he was wearing the white button-down shirt with his straight hair, lol.

And VIXX also recently had a comeback, and I really like it! The chorus is just so catchy and different. XD Check out their music video, "hyde".

Like I've said in an earlier post, I've recently gotten into VIXX (they have so many shows! :o), and I think that they're hilarious and adorable and that they get better and better with every comeback, so I'm definitely not regretting stanning this group, lol. I've still got a bunch of radio shows to watch and VIXX TV, too. This week has been so unproductive because of them. :P

So much to do~

So I didn't fail my tests! I made an 86 on my accounting test and a 90 on my statistics test! Not bad at all, lol. But I've learned my lesson. I'm going to study more so that I won't have to spend all weekend cramming before the next tests.

...which is what I'm going to do after I finish updating my iPod, lol. I've had new music since last month but I've been so busy and forgetful, that I completely spaced out every time I planned on putting new music on my iPod, which really sucked since I was getting tired of listening to the same songs while I worked out, lol.

But yeah, I'm gonna study tonight since I'm going to be busy tomorrow and maybe Saturday. Shanice and I are movie-hopping again tomorrow, and I might be going to Atlanta with Madeline on Saturday to visit and hang out with Shelle. And then I have to be home on Sunday because Tawanda is stopping by so that she can move into our apartment. So yeah, my weekend's pretty busy with not much time to study.

Too much music! And I'm still not caught up on all of my Kpop subscriptions! D: Also, I've started getting into a group called VIXX, and I've got to say, they're growing on me. So yeah, there goes all of my other free-time: watching a bunch of shows with them since they seem to have so many.

Top Ten Tuesdays: Books At The Top Of My Summer TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by the Broke and Bookish.

Since I don't plan on buying many books this summer (or it seems like ever, lol), my list is comprised of books that I have bought but still have yet to read and am hoping to read this summer in between work and school and watching many many movies, lol. So many trilogies that I need to finish or want to start!

asdlkfjkl;

I know that I didn't fail both of my tests, but I also didn't do that great either. Like, I totally forgot that my Stat professor said to round to the second decimal, so I just rounded up to the first decimal. Hopefully she won't take off too many points. And I forgot how to do some of the accruals and deferrals in my accounting test. D:

But whatever. It's over. I'm gonna go catch up on youchube and watch Teen Wolf with Shanice later. :P
