I didn't buy any books last month, but I ended up buying a couple of books this month because they were on sale. One was a birthday present from David though! :)

Drinking, Festivals, Trips, Birthdays, Trivia, & Movies

This is a long, overdue update since I didn't blog anything about what happened in October let alone this month. I'll try to keep it short since there's a lot of stuff that happened, lol.

At the end of September, my parents went on a week long cruise, which left my brother and me home alone. To celebrate our freedom, my bro went to his weekly guys night and David and I ended up eating dinner at Waffle House.

Towards the end of dinner, we were like, "I kind of feel like drinking..." Then we were like, we should hit up Alec since he likes to drink and helps us choose new types of beers to try. We ended up texting the whole crew to see if they wanted to come over and drink. It was hilarious because everyone was at home and like, "alright, let me put some clothes on," lol. Victoria's response was the best because she was like, "You just made me reevaluate my life. I'm in a bathroom playing video games at home". XD So we ended up having a spontaneous hangout at my house on a Saturday night.

We drank a lot. Here's a pic of most of the empty bottles, lol.

The next Saturday, the group went to the Korean Festival in Atlanta, which had a lot of booths and performances going on every hour. We mainly went for the food stalls, lol. I was excited for the kimchi pancakes and shaved ice cream. There were a bunch of interesting booths set up, but the demonstrations and performances were the most interesting parts. There was a Korean wrestling tournament later in the day, which Harrison signed up for. It ended up being the highlight of the day. Unfortunately, Harrison was disqualified after his first round because his foot got cut, and he was bleeding a lot.

We left after the wrestling tournament because there wasn't anything else that interested us there and went to Super H-Mart to kill time and buy snacks and alcohol. Lol, most of the guys ended up buying soju because Alec was a big fan of them and convince them that they were really good. We were killing time because we wanted to go to this Japanese buffet called Nori Nori, which opened at 6. Most of the food was really good; they had a huge sushi section and green tea ice cream! I just didn't realize how expensive it was, lol.

After dinner, we drove back to Harrison's place and drank the soju and hungout until late like usual. Mikey and I realized that we didn't like the taste of most of the soju we got without Alec putting in some yogurt drinks to help dilute the flavor.

The next week, I finally got a haircut again. It turned out that my usual barber moved out of state, so I had to get someone else. I just told her to do whatever she wanted, so she made this flower, which I liked.

It was David's birthday the next week, so he invited me to go out for dinner with him and his family. We went to Thai Pepper, which is always a good choice. Lol, it was funny when his mom brought out his birthday cake, and we realized that she hadn't brought enough candles, so David was technically 12 or something.

That weekend, the whole family came up to stay at Michelle and Kyle's place since our parents had to go to two back-to-back weddings. While the parents went to one wedding Saturday night, the rest of us went to the mall because Michelle needed to get a gummy bear refill at this candy shop there. They gave a lot of free samples; it was really nice. We looked around the mall for a while and then got dinner at Takorea at a different location than the one I'm used to.

The next day, our parents treated us out to hotpot at I Luv Hotpot, since our mom wanted dad to try it out. Then they went to their friend's house to prepare for the wedding, and we went to KungFu Tea, since Brian said that he wanted to try it since a lot of his friends said that it's really good. We went to Second & Charles to sell my books and got dinner at Mod Pizza, a place that both Michelle and Megan have been telling me to try for a while now. It was really good, and I liked that you got to basically put whatever you wanted on your pizza for no extra cost.

The next Friday, my friends and I left for Chattanooga, Tennessee to celebrate Victoria's birthday since she wanted to go spelunking for her birthday. We had rented out this house, which was really cool (literally, we never touched the thermostat, so it was always cold, lol) and had a nice kitchen. After eating lunch at this Mexican restaurant, we walked around the town for a bit and got smoothies and groceries.

Then we drove up a mountain to go to Rock City, which is one of the most popular attractions in Chattanooga. Ironically, it's actually in Georgia; we were surprised when our GPS told us "Welcome to Georgia" when we were halfway up the mountain. It had a lot of really cool sights. I really liked the parts where you basically had to squeeze yourself between the rocks to get to the other side, lol. I loved this one part with the wooden bridge you had to walk across that swung with any type of pressure on it just like in the movies.

There was this one part called Lover's Leap, which basically was a little ledge off of part of the cliff where you have a great view of everything down below you. Mikey is scared of heights and doesn't even like having his friends too close to the edge. We had to basically pull him onto the ledge because he didn't want to get on it, lol. So what do David and I do? We get his attention and pretend to leap off of the railing just to freak him out, lol.

After that, we went to this haunted house, which was really fun. I kept on jumping at the jump scares, lol. Then we finally went back to the house and Harrison made dinner. Everyone was really tired from the drive and all of the stuff we did during the day, so we went to bed somewhat early. I mean, I haven't slept at 11pm in a long time; I usually sleep at 2 nowadays.

The next day, after a quick breakfast, everyone but David and me went to go to see another attraction. I didn't want to go because I wasn't that interested and wanted to save money, lol. Instead, David and I ended up taking a long nap and then showering afterwards. By that time, Mikey and Alyssa came back from the attraction since they weren't going spelunking later. Lol, they said that we didn't miss much because it was raining the whole time, so they had to walk in the rain for most of the trip.

We went to eat at this vegan place for lunch, which was pretty good. They had cupcakes for dessert, and they were soo good! Afterwards, we went to this mall which had 4.5 stars and like 200 reviews, so we were expecting it to be great, but it was kind of a let down. While we were waiting for Auntie Ann's to make my pretzel, Mikey looked up another mall which had like 2,000 reviews, and we were all like, how come we didn't see mall the last time we looked them up?! So we ended up driving 15 minutes to get to that mall, and it was completely better, lol. And a lot bigger. I think it was around the same size as the Perimeter Mall in Atlanta? We didn't make it too far in the mall to explore everything, because we all got sucked into Barnes and Nobles, lol.

By then, it was five and the spelunking group was heading back to the house, so we started heading back as well. After dinner, we started drinking and playing card games like Exploding Kittens and What Do You Meme, which were hilarious. Then Victoria broke out her chess set to play drunk chess, and the rest of us played board games for a while. Then we stayed up and watched Insidious and Insidious 2 until.

The next day, we packed up and ate all of the leftovers before heading back home. David and I ended up staying at Harrison's place afterwards to go grocery shopping with him since we had nothing better to do, lol.

The next weekend was my birthday, and I've been really excited to watch the new Jackie Chan movie that came out recently, so we all went to go watch The Foreigner, which was pretty good. I can't believe how old he's gotten.

I also bought a lot of candy days beforehand to share in the movie theater because my sister made me realize that there were all of these new candy flavors that we'd never even heard of, let alone try, so I was like, why not make all of my friends have diabetes with me for my birthday and bought a whole bunch of candy for us to try, lol. I wish I took a pic of the whole stash I bought, because it was huge.

After the movie, we went to a Mexican restaurant nearby, since some of my friends were hungry. Jerry and Alec got the waitresses and waiters to sing me happy birthday and got me a tequila shot, lol. All in all, not a bad birthday.

The next week, on Veterans Day, I was hanging out with David, and we had another "I kind of want to drink..." moment during the end of dinner at his house, so we called up the group to see who was available again and got ready to go drink at Harrison's place. Lol, last time and that time we had the spontaneous drinking hangout, Jerry couldn't make it because he had work the next day, so he was complaining about it to Mikey after we got off of the phone with him.

We hungout, drank, watch Iron Chef, and played drunk board games. Lol, David and Harrison got so drunk, it was great. Somehow we all ended up cuddled on the couch and passed out for a bit. Kim took a pic of us as proof that she was the only one awake. It was great, lol.

The next Tuesday, Alec invited us to superhero trivia at this bar clothes to my house, so I went. It made me realize that I don't know much about superheroes, lol. But I did get to try this pineapple cider, which was really good!

Then, this past Saturday, we went to go watch Thor at the movie theaters as a group. David and I had already watched it the week before, but we flipped a coin and it told us to go to the movies again, lol. Then, after the movie was over, Mikey was like, "Do you guys want to watch Justice League? It starts in 15 minutes!" so we were like, why not and paid for our tickets to go watch it. By the time we got out, it was 11:30, and we were starving, so we went to Waffle House for hashbrowns. We ended up running into some of the movie theater workers there, lol.

But yeah, that's what's been happening these past two months! I'm having midnight friendsgiving with my high school friends on Wednesday, so I'm looking forward to that, since I haven't seen most of them since my sis's wedding.

Book Unhaul (9)

All of these books were sold or put in the Free Pile at Second & Charle's, a used bookstore in Kennesaw. My family went up to visit and spend the night at my sis and bro-in-law's house a couple weekends ago since our parents had to go to two weddings that weekend. I gave the books to my sis to sell them to Second and Charle's when they had the chance/sold them while we were up there.

October in Retrospect

October passed by in a flash! A lot of stuff happened, and I've been too preoccupied to find the time to blog about them, but hopefully I'll get to it soon!

I'm happy to say that I finally read some books! Like, a lot of books even if all but one of them are considered light novels and were pretty fast reads. I managed to whittle down my TBR pile at least that much, which is definitely an improvement compared to most of this year, lol.

I also watched a bunch of scary movies with my friends this month because, ya know, Halloween and stuff, which was really fun. I usually need to be in a certain mood to watch scary movies because it's not my preferred genre, but I was totally down for being scared because my friends and I have hilarious reactions to scary movies.

I read:
  • Big Mushy Happy Lump by Sarah Andersen
  • Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? vol. 1 by Fujino Omori & Suzuhito Yasuda
