DC Trip!

Oops. Accidentally took a two week hiatus because work was so busy. I worked so much overtime and spent all that extra money buying more scrapbooking supplies lol. But that’s not the point. Here’s a recap of Alec and my week in DC visiting his family!

Sunday, November 20th:

  • Flight was at 9pm, so we took our time packing and getting ready.
  • Decided to eat dinner at Pho Dai Loi, so we left an extra 1.5 hrs earlier, since it’s close to the airport
  • Finally got to use my TSA Precheck at the airport, so we had a LOT of free time before our flight, so I finished watching season one of Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest
  • Landed and got back to his parents’ condo around midnight

Monday, November 21st:

  • Alec and I were working remotely until Thursday, so we spent most of the day working and eating lots of food because his mom likes to cook and bake and had prepared so much food already
  • Met his uncle Ferdy at lunch, since he also lives in the same condo on a different floor
  • Because I had to work late and because the sun set early around 5:30, it was already dark, so we didn’t go out to explore
  • Went to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever instead, which was SO GOOD
  • Hungout and watched some Netflix

Tuesday, November 22nd:

  • Got off work earlier, so Alec and I could explore Old Town, Alexandria, which was nearby
  • Walked around Founders Park, which was smaller than I expected
  • Took an Uber to Dupont Circle and walked down most of the streets exploring while killing time since we were early
  • Met up with Shanice and Josh at Ala, a Mediterranean restaurant. The food was great, and so was our waitress! The desserts were delicious!
  • Took an Uber back home and hungout with his parents until 11pm when Alec and his dad left to pick up his sister and her husband from the airport. His mom eventually asked me about marriage lol. I knew it would happen eventually
  • I fell asleep before they came back lol

Wednesday, November 23rd:

  • Alec and I both had a half day at work, so we were able to get off early and hangout with his family while waiting for Uncle Ferdy to get off work
  • We had reservations at this super popular peking duck restaurant for dinner, and I’m glad we did, because the wait line was ridiculously long!
  • The food was great! We got a dinner set menu, so there was a LOT of food!
  • Then, we walked it off by going to the National Mall and walking to a lot of the national monuments in the cold. I was having a great time, but poor Alec was freezing lol

Thursday, November 24th:

  • Thanksgiving morning!
  • We ate lunch and then rearranged the dining table to fit more people (and food obvs)
  • Then we went to the National Harbor and walked around the area
  • Ended up walking all the way to Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, which was huge and had a lot of Christmas events and decorations lined up already
  • The view from the back was great, too
  • Drove back home to start preparing for dinner. There were so many cooks in the kitchen, so I was just chilling with Stephanie lol
  • Then we had a massive feast and went out to explore where to go Black Friday shopping. We decided on Tanger Outlet and Costco

Friday, November 25th:

  • Woke up early for a breakfast of pandesal and leftover ham and cranberry sauce sliders. Delicious!
  • We left around 9:30 to go to Tanger, and it was already busy. We split up to go to different shops. A lot of women’s clothes sizes in small and medium were already sold out at this point. It was crazy! I couldn’t really find Christmas presents for anyone except for a super cute white puffy vest for Luna, but I ended up getting two pullovers from Columbia to wear.
  • We went back home for lunch, which was obviously leftovers
  • Then, headed back out to Costco, and spent a long time there lol
  • Headed back home not long afterwards because Stephanie and her husband flew out that night

Saturday, November 26th:

  • Our flight was around 7pm, so we took our time chilling in the morning and had a late breakfast
  • We went to a Persian restaurant nearby for lunch, and then his parents dropped us off at the airport
  • We had a lot of time to kill before our flight, so we walked around half of the terminals before I got tired. The architecture was pretty!
  • Got home around 10 and passed out not long after

All in all, a successful trip! Lots of sightseeing and food!
