In the Immortal Realm:

Song Qingshi praised from the bottom of his heart: “My patient is the kindest and most beautiful little angel in the world.”

Yue Wuhuan quietly washed the blood from his hands and smiled softly: “En.”

Song Qingshi swore from the bottom of his heart: “As a doctor, I will never covet nor take advantage of my beautiful patient!”

Yue Wuhuan took full and complete advantage of the doctor and smiled softly: “En.”

Song Qingshi affirmed from the bottom of his heart: “Under my loving care, the patient will never be blackened!”

Yue Wuhuan secretly hid his monstrously evil thoughts and smiled softly: “En.”

At that inextinguishable summit, upon thousand and thousands of soul lamps, he sat on the god’s throne of white bone, guarding that piece of stone.

“You are the only one in this world who treats me tenderly.”

“And so, you are the only one I treat tenderly.”

Scholar-tyrant Song was absolutely delighted: “Professor! Can I get full marks?”

Professor System exploded: “You fool! You saved the wrong person!”

4.5 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

I came for the laughs, stayed for the sads, and became addicted to figuring out the main plot.

Song Qingshi is so precious. Yue Wuhuan is so pitiful. I loved the way the story ended in a full circle.

2.5 STARS - I LIKED IT ENOUGH

MY REVIEW:

Same author as FOG, which was unexpected.

This was was a very sweet and fluffy modern romance about a shy introvert and the handsome class grass that befriends him. It was a little TOO sweet for me that I needed to take breaks from reading it sometimes. Like, there wasn't enough tension to keep your attention each chapter.

Not sure if it's also due to translations, but the writing was a little immature. Some scenes felt like reading something straight from fanfiction.net lol.

Not a bad novel, but I definitely prefer FOG instead. I'm also interested in the author's other finished translated novels, so I'll get to them eventually.

Title: The E-Sports Circle’s Toxic Assembly Camp
Author: 青梅酱
Chapters: 194 chapters
Publication: 2020
Summary from Novel Updates:

Chief tactician Lin Yan entered an e-sports novel. At this time, there was still a whole year to go before the original plot started.

The big devil who would frighten people in the future was still a thin-skinned little anchor; the disaster who once disturbed the e-sports circle was playing as an accompanying player; the best healer was sitting on the cold bench of a third-rate team; the strongest king at shooting his mouth off offended the media and his black materials were flying all over the place…

They would shine as the plot progressed but unfortunately, their teams weren’t strong enough. In the end, they couldn’t escape the fate of a cannon fodder.

Lin Yan couldn’t bear to see these talents being wasted. The e-sports professional reality show started and he spent money to set up the GH Club, moving from east to west to select his team.

The variety fans: ??? Is this ‘Go Home’ team picking up the junk?

This lasted until all the opponents were coughing up blood at GH’s tactics and could only watch GH get a ticket to the professional league.

The entire e-sports circle knew that apart from their captain Jing Yuanzhou, the entire GH team was a group of barely qualified variety show players not worth paying attention to. As a result, this toxic team swept through the field and reached the top in their first year of the league.

When the media interviewed GH: Captain Jing, why did you agree to Coach Lin and joined GH?

Jing Yuanzhou: He pestered me every day saying ‘I want you’. It was really difficult to turn down such great kindness.

Lin Yan: “???”

Check the salary deduction warning.

The entire Internet went crazy: Parental love is real!!!

5 STARS - I LOVED IT

MY REVIEW:

I loved the GH team so much! From their arrogant beginnings to their personal growth and hilarious banter, this team just kept on getting better and better with all of Coach Lin's devil training lmao.

Not to mention Coach Lin's mental torture to the opposing teams' coaches! His mind games were great!

And I loved just how flirty Coach Lin and Jing Yuanzhou were with each other that their ambiguous remarks kept on shocking everyone around them! This couple was spreading dog food straight from the beginning lol.

Webnovel Review: I Can Do It by Jiàng Zi Bèi

Title: I Can Do It
Author: Jiàng Zi Bèi
Chapters: 134 chapters + 2 extras + 7 side story chapters
Publication: 2020
Summary from Novel Updates:

For a certain LOL competition, a certain online streamer famous for pissing people off was currently explaining and broadcasting it at the same time.

Streamer: This support, so tr*sh.

Streamer: If that jungler was my teammate, I would already be idling at the fountain and playing piano for him by now.

Streamer: I recommend that this player go back and properly practice how to last hit.

Audience: What bullshit! If you’re any better, then you do it!

Streamer: Daddy I really can do it.

Audience: Okokok. If you can do it then I’ll chop off my head so you can kick it.

A few months later, LOL’s veteran pro team TTC announced a new mid laner, Soft. A boy with flashy blue hair appeared in front of the audience and played Zed to utter perfection, killing everyone he saw, causing all the female fans to begin toeing the line of infidelity.

During the MVP interview after the match, everyone held their breath and eagerly watched this newcomer.

Only to see the boy accept the microphone, smile and ask, “That water friend with the StarTV user ID ‘Suburb King 101,’ my team’s address is on the official website, when will you mail your head over?”

After a certain regular season match finished, the staff member went backstage to urge the team members to go onstage and conduct their interviews, only to see TTC’s new mid laner and jungler standing in the corner.

TTC’s number one ace · jungler daddy Road pressed their team’s new mid laner Soft against the wall. He lowered his eyes and asked lowly, “At the interview, do you know what you did?”

That quick-tempered mid-laner, who had solidified his image as a troll in the audience’s eyes the very first time he went on stage, turned completely red. “I know. I won’t curse at anyone… I definitely won’t curse at anyone.”

5 STARS - I LOVED IT

MY REVIEW:

This was such a fun and exciting book!

Jian Rong and his fans' dad relationship had me dying! Like, who else has fans who flame him more than his antis to the point that even the antis are confused? I loved how it was already routine for his fans to open 10+ side accounts because he always bans them during his streams lol.

I loved Jian Rong, this arrogant brat who's known to roast everyone for not playing well. Except he's actually a soft boy but only in the face of his idol and crush. The slow burn romance and gay panic were so good and funny! I died from laughing at all of the embarrassing moments Jian Rong always seemed to have with Lu Boyuan. It was almost as bad as Shi Luo's embarrassing side account in FOG!

Lu Boyuan is your typical gentle, doting male lead, which plays a nice contrast with the ever prickly Jian Rong. He's a capable captain and is a little more relatable because of his family relationship issues. I like how he understands that Jian Rong has a huge fan filter on him and actively tries to get him to see past that.

His teammates were all great. I liked how poor Xiao Bai kept on ruining their moments together and didn't know he was on the verge of death every time it happened lol. Their poor coach definitely didn't have it easy since Jian Rong kept on getting penalties from insulting people lmao.

And, of course, the games were exciting and riveting! There were so many good plays during each fight, and the teammates comments were hilarious! Listening to the commentators' analysis verses what actually happened in the games were also pretty funny lol.

Definitely recommend this book if you like esports or just want to read a good book.

FEB: Sleepovers, Parents Visits, Valentine's Day, & Hiking

February was full of people. I was pretty peopled out near the end of the month -__-"

Alec came over the first Thursday of the month to spend the weekend together. He had a work trip the next week and planned on quarantining for a week afterwards, so we didn't plan to see each other for a while.

The next weekend, we went down to visit the parents because Shelle and Kyle found out their baby's gender and wanted to do a gender reveal for all of the parents. Our parents were the first to find out because they were most free lol.

The upcoming Monday was Valentine's Day. I already had plans to go to a Monsta X concert with some friends, but the concert was moved to May because of the Omicron outbreak. Instead, Tawanda was still planning on coming over on Monday since she had already taken the day off of work lol. And then Alec returned home from his conference a day earlier. He came over after testing negative on Sunday and planned on making chicken and mushroom risotto for all of us for Valentine's Day.

Look at this masterpiece!

Alec was planning on going back home after dinner, since he had to go back into the office the next day. He also planned on coming back over that upcoming weekend because he had to go to a wedding tasting nearby. Because of this, Shelle had thought that I was going to spend the week with him anyway and come back during the weekend, so I decided to pack last minute and go home with him lol.

We just didn't expect that he went to a team lunch on Wed and found out one of his coworker's girlfriend had Covid. Alec took a rapid test that night and was negative, but we both tested again on Saturday after it had been a few days since potential infection. Luckily, we were both negative, and Alec could go to the tasting after dropping me back home.

My parents also decided to come up that weekend to hangout and because dad had some tax documents he needed help with and because mom needed to buy some dresses for upcoming weddings. It was super last minute plans though because Shelle and Kyle already had plans on Saturday while I just wanted to rest at home. I also saw the parents almost every weekend since dad's surgery in January, so I was pretty tired of hanging out with them because we have to spend so much time focusing on them whenever we're together. I just needed some space!

I think because my parents have retired, they're bored and have too much time on their hands, so they're focusing on spending time with us. But it's too much! They call and text all the time, too! I just need some space to appreciate them again lol. I can only handle my parents in limited periods of time, and after spending almost 2 weeks with them after my dad's surgery and seeing them almost every weekend afterwards, I need a lot more time to not be annoyed with them.

That following Monday was President's Day. Archana, Jack, and I had the day off, so we made plans to hangout at Archana's apartment where she finally started to break the news that she got a job in San Francisco and was relocating soon lol. After eating a bunch of snacks and Girl Scout cookies, Jack left, and I helped Archana pack up since she was spending the rest of the week at my place.

She wanted to hangout with Alec some more before she left, so he came over after work on Thursday night. What's great about having two more people who like cooking at home is that we were always eating something tasty every night lol. We also played {THE AND} Friends Edition and got super deep with each other.

We went hiking around the trail behind Archana's apartment on Saturday before CJ picked her up for dinner. It was really good catching up with CJ as well. I'm glad she's enjoying retirement lol. But this might be one of the last times we go hiking at that trail together, so it was pretty bittersweet. Archana also took us to a different hiking trail further than our usual hikes, so I got to see a different view.

The next day, Alec and I went out for lunch by ourselves since we didn't want to get lunch with Kyle's mom and step-dad. We went to Hai Authentic Chinese to see if they were really authentic since their dim sum menu looked pretty legit. They were! Just pricy for dim sum and appetizers alone. But the food was really good! I liked their Szechuan Chilli Wontons and Grandma's Noodles. Their Garlic Cucumber Salad was refreshing and paired really well with all of the heavy oily dishes like the Spicy & Crispy Pig Feet.

However, our main reason for going to Alpharetta was because I found out that there was a bingsoo place nearby! So after lunch, we immediately went to Cafe Bora to try their individual sized bingsoo! I got the Strawberry Matcha Bingsoo, and Alec ordered the Purple Sweet Potato Bingsoo. Both were really good! I wasn't expecting the condensed milk in the shaved ice for Alec's bingsoo!

Also, the plating was just super aesthetic lol. 100% approved!

But yeah, February was a super busy month full of good food and people and ups and downs lol.

Mini Reviews: Be A Mentor In A Love Variety Show; It's A Stepmother, Not An Elder Sister; Miss Cannon Fodder Wants To Escape Death Flags

Title: Be A Mentor In A Love Variety Show
Author: 十六月西瓜
Chapters: 79 chapters + 9 extras
Publication: 2021
Summary from Wattpad:

In a heroine's Millionaire essay, the heroine is an amateur, relying on a love variety show to become popular on the Internet.

However, the female tutor in the love variety show was scolded out of the entertainment circle because of negative news such as low EQ and wanting unspoken rules for male guests.

So dying, Xianyu Lu Ling became this female mentor.

The amateurs participating in the variety show this time are actually not ordinary people.

There are two generations of wealthy and wealthy people who can just go back and inherit their family business.

There are also female bosses who set up their own companies.

There are also male racers with blood from the royal family.

But what does that have to do with Lu Lu?

When the male and female guests were ambiguous with each other, Lu Hao's face was paralyzed and commented,

"The man is too greasy and too hard, and he looks like the old sea king."

When the new male guest introduced himself, Lu Hao had no expression on his face,

"Versailles"

"The taste is too strong, and it looks like a master of Versailles."

The female guest blinked her deer-like eyes, and when she was madly sucking the powder, Lu Biao said,

"There is a high-end green tea flavor."

Because of the eyes of invincible Jian green tea, As well as real's straightforward speech, Lu Zhuo became a hit overnight.

The fire is extremely hot.

Lu Hao was disgusted with the world and lacked interest.

"Don't be obsessed with sister, sister is just a legend."

Later, the actor who is also a mentor smiled and asked Lu Zhao, "Teacher Lu, look, which one am I?"

Introduction: Sister is just a legend: the Jedi counterattack, turn against the wind, and create myths.

4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

I've read a lot of this author's books recently, and this had to be one of the funniest one's I've read yet!

I loved how blunt and honest Lu Hao (not 100% sure if that's her name because I MTL, and there were a lot of different variations lol) was whenever she commented on people. She was too honest and kept on shocking everyone into speechlessness!

And the summary doesn't even hint at the main plot, which was so good and interesting! I stayed up late reading this novel because I couldn't help but want to continue to see how see how she would avoid situations with the female lead and when she would reveal herself to her friend lol.

I would definitely recommend if you want to read something funny and romantic with lots of faceslaps.

Title: It's A Stepmother, Not An Elder Sister
Author:  松鼠醉鱼
Chapters: 137 chapters
Publication: 2021
Summary from jjwxc:

Jiang Hongping was reborn, and immediately surrendered his marriage to Qi Heng to his cousin Jiang Shuangling. She married Qi Heng in the previous life and was driven back within a few days. Marriage can only marry a poor lame man, this time you can't say anything to be a stepmother.

The other party's oil bottle son is the devil! ! !

Jiang Shuangling traveled to the 1970s, what? Let her marry, after weighing the pros and cons, it is better to marry than to stay at her uncle’s house and marry with her younger brother.

Jiang Shuangling was shocked when he saw each other for the first time.

A handsome young man of twenty-three years old.

Just look at this face, this figure, she can!

Isn't it just being a stepmother for someone? ! !

The first meeting of the reorganized family: once twenty-nine-year-old urban white-collar Jiang Shuangling scanned the faces of cheap brothers, cheap sons, and cheap husbands, thinking: all present are younger brothers.

The younger brother carefully took her hand and called her affectionately: A sister's

son opened his mouth and stopped talking.

Jiang Shuangling calmly said: You can also call me sister.

The man next to him turned black: He called your sister, what do you call me? dad?

Jiang Shuangling spread her hands: It's not impossible.

This article is a sweet essay for a female protagonist who can make her life particularly happy no matter when and where she is.

3.5 STARS - I LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

This was a cute slice of life comedy about a painter who was transmigrated 50 years into the past back into the 70s. She had a flash marriage and became a stepmom to escape her aunt and uncle's house with her little brother, and they lived happily ever after :D

The kids' antics were amusing, the romance was sweet and funny, and there wasn't much drama, so it was a relaxing read for the weekend.

Overall, highly recommend if you're in the mood for something calm but amusing.

Title: Miss Cannon Fodder Wants To Escape Death Flags
Author: 纪婴
Chapters: 133 chapters
Publication: 2020
Summary from Novel Updates:

After entering a male orientated cultivation novel, Ning Ning originally planned to carefully follow the planned storyline, but only to discover that there was something not quite right about this world.

Within the sect, her senior brother relies on everyone around him for his cultivation progress, her senior sister sells information of their sect elders and her peers for money, while her master was so dirt poor that it makes one’s hairs stand on their end, and drinks water gathered from 82 years ago every single day.

Outside of her sect, those Buddhist practitioners cultivated arduously, chanting scriptures akin to singing rap, their lips moving so quickly that sparks would fly; those sword practitioners treated their swords like their beloved wives, yet struggling to become courtesans to support their families, with their love stories deeply touching the hearts of many; those music practitioners treat temple bells as weapons, and excels in flinging their bells to strike people down.

Ning Ning : “…”

There’s no use saving this world. Just let it get destroyed. Sooner or later, this cultivation world will come to an end.

*

Ning Ning had crossed over into a cultivation novel world with the identity of an evil junior sister.

If she wanted to live, she needed to follow the story line and continue to court death with her actions.

Target number 1: The noble and benevolent eldest senior brother

Senior brother possessed Innate Sword Bones, and unsurpassed cultivation. Ning Ning requested for a late night private meeting, only for the former to smile faintly and nod his head: “Do you want to learn…something that doesn’t suit your age?”

Therefore, as the night progressed, the eldest senior brother brought out an entire set of extremely difficult secret sword arts, with Ning Ning being forced to train arduously throughout the entire night, leaving her completely exhausted, with her heart being as dead as ashes.

Target number 2: The quiet, sick and handsome elder

The elder’s cultivation was destroyed during the great war, and retreated into the mountains to recuperate alone.

Taking advantage of his playing the zither, Ning Ning originally wished to head up and cause trouble. However, after bumping into and inhaling a poisonous fragrance from a flower, she was paralyzed, having to endure excruciating pain, causing waves of tears to stream down her face.

Seeing her tearful gaze, the elder merely assumed that he had finally met someone with good music taste and she had started to cry because she had become too happy hearing his zither. He got happy to the point where he almost wanted to pull everyone together to sing the song “Good Luck’s coming”.

Target number 3: Arrogant and antisocial junior brother

According to the original storyline, the junior brother, main male character, was born in poverty, had an impure bloodline, was discriminated against within the sect, and got bullied to the point of being completely riddled with wounds.

Ning Ning knocked away the immortal spring water that he was using to treat his injuries. In the end, the immortal spring water had long been swapped by other people with an extremely corrosive poison, which splashed all over her legs.

The youth squatted down, and gently rubbed away the bloodstains on the girl’s calf: “Why did you help me?”

As if the story wasn’t any weirder enough, it took a weirder turn.

The ever so malicious youth buried his head in her neck, his voice racked with sobs, in which it hid an intense servitude and thirst.

“Don’t leave me behind.”

4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

I have not laughed so much reading a novel in a while! There were so many scenes where I almost busted a gut laughing so hard! The impersonating master seduction scene! The touching porcelain argument! The selling misery competition!

And Ning Ning's intelligence! The whole setup and manipulations and plans where so good! The reversals were so satisfying! It was like watching Mission Impossible: Cultivation Edition lol.

This novel was part comedy, mystery, and romance. Honestly, the romance was a little too much UST, especially towards the end for me. Normally, I like reading about the sexual tension between the main characters, but I felt like it detracted from the plot too much since it focused on these scenes for too long.

However, I definitely recommend this book if you like cultivation novels, want to laugh at sand sculpture characters, or like smart protagonists!

Webnovel Review: Transmigrating as the Supporting Male Lead's Sweetheart by 小孩爱吃糖

Title: Transmigrating as the Supporting Male Lead's Sweetheart
Author: 小孩爱吃糖
Chapters: 100 chapters + 16 extras
Publication: 2019
Summary from Novel Updates:

Yan Yan transmigrated into a novel and became the biggest villain in the book.

The villain originally thought she was the long lost noble daughter of the Ming Family. Upon returning to the Ming Family, she wholeheartedly wanted to eliminate her little uncle to inherit the family property. But before she could eliminate her little uncle, the real noble daughter returned. As a result, the villain was swept out of the house and ruthlessly killed by the little uncle.

On the day Yan Yan transmigrated as the villain, she swore she would definitely not covet Little Uncle’s family property, definitely not go against Little Uncle’s wishes, and definitely not hinder Little Uncle from chasing the female protagonist!

Preserving her little life, she found an opportunity to inform Little Uncle, “Actually, I am not the real Miss Ming.”

Little Uncle pulled on his tie when he heard her words and gave her a meaningful smile: “Really? That’s great.”

Yan Yan: ??????

Can someone explain to her what this means?

The unafraid of heaven or earth but is afraid of her little uncle FL VS. the seemingly overbearing but in fact is not even a little overbearing ML

The male and female leads are not blood related!!! ARE NOT!!!

3 STARS - I LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

This was an interesting take on transmigration! Super famous actress Yan Yan transmigrated into a fanfic one of her fans wrote about her and a new hot musician Bai Chen. Unfortunately, she transmigrated into the villainess Tang Tang and has to figure out how to whitewash her name after her character just made really negative news about her pursuing Bai Chen on a live competition show. Meanwhile, Bai Chen has a not-so-secret crush on Yan Yan that everyone knows about. What a trainwreck!

It was very satisfying watching Tang Tang faceslapping everyone and whitewashing her name while getting along with her uncle. Their slow burn romance was super cute, and the confession part was cute but exasperating lol.

I really liked her uncle's character, too. He was mature and steady and kept trying to do the right thing for Tang Tang. Fortunately, after they finally got together, he went into full spoiling mode and finally enjoyed himself lol.

I MTL this novel, which wasn't too hard to read. This is set in the same franchise as Guide To Raising the Sick Villain (which was also a good book!), but I didn't see any overlap. However, I read that book a while ago, so I could have just missed it.
