Kpop Appreciation Post: Akdong Musician, EXO, Taeyang, B.A.P, Infinite

Basically, in the middle of my catching up on all that is Kpop, I forgot to talk about which ones I've liked recently. -__-"

Akdong Musician is the brother sister duo that won a talent show and signed on with YG. I've heard a couple of their songs since they debuted and really liked them all, but their song "Melted" and its music video really spoke to me. I legit had tears in my eyes.

You really need to watch the music video.

I just really like their voices and their indie style. It very unique, especially compared to most other Kpop songs. And here's "200%", a much happier, lighter song that really displays their nice voices.

I'm really late to mention how much I am addicted to EXO's "Overdose". Sucks about Kris leaving in the midst of their promotion, but I really don't want to talk about it. Let's just talk about how catchy that chorus is. After the first few times I listened to the song, I had the English part of the chorus stuck in my head at the most random times, lol.

The mv stuck to the usual SM formula of dancing in one or two rooms, but at least the room was pretty interesting. Plus, I really liked the dance and how they changed the camera angles to go with the song. The dancing was so sharp and smooth, and ugh, I wish I could dance like that. >__<

Also, I'm super late to mention how much I'm loving Taeyang's new song, "Eyes, Nose, Lips", but whatever, better late than never, right? XD At first, I was a little disappointed find out that it was such a slow song, but it definitely grew on me, because, hello, Taeyang's voice is perfection. He just has this style of singing that he definitely knows how to exploit that sounds so uniquely him and awesome.

The music video isn't that special, but you can never turn down a shirtless Taeyang, lol. Although the dark, bleak setting really does go well with the tone of his song. Also wonder if any of the tattoos are real.

I'm also super super late to talk about B.A.P's song, "1004 (Angel)", which I can't believe came out four months ago??? Like, I don't even remember seeing them perform that song on the music shows or promoting it in general, which sucks because I'm really loving this song!

The intro was okay since it showed you the settings, but once the music started playing around 30 seconds, I was immediately hooked. The beat is just really good, okay. XD Listen to it yourself!

I really liked BYG's setting. The giant bones and dessert scenery looked really cool. And I loved Jongup and Zelo's dance in the beginning; it definitely reminded me that they're the group's best dancers, lol. The mv wasn't bad either. I liked how they switched to a different song to compliment the bleak tone of the mv near the end of the song before going back to the chorus.

And finally, Infinite's "Last Romeo"! It's not my favorite of their songs, I but do like it, and it grows on me the more I listen to it. The chorus is definitely catchy and still has the distinct Infinite tone to it, which I appreciate.

I actually really liked the settings in the mv, especially the building full of books, but that could be my bookworm nerdiness talking, lol. And their dance is awesome as always, full of sharp, synchronized moves that I could never replicate. XD I also liked their outfits; guys never look wrong in fitted suits, and apparently I have a thing for guys in all black/leather, too, lol.

And that's it for now. There are still a couple more songs I want to talk about, but this post is getting ridiculously long, so I'll save it for another time. :P

Mixed feelings are confusing :/

Remember a while ago where I posted about all of my doubts and worries about doing a long distance thing with David? Well, I also said that I should worry and overthink about all of that stuff when it's actually closer to the time when he comes back.

He's coming back next week and I'm worrying about something completely different than last time. O__O

I guess I should also say that I worried about losing interesting/touch with him and vice versa was unnecessary since our daily emails has definitely proved our continued interest with each other, lol. I mean, I've always had trouble maintaining contact with people after they've moved away and stuff, so the fact that we've been still in contact with each other for this long is a feat in itself for me.

However, what I'm currently worried about is the fact that he's coming back next week, and I'm having mixed feelings about it. It's really weird. Three weeks ago, I was ready for him to come back already because I was tired of emailing him and just wanted to hangout with him, but now, I'm kind of excited to see him and kind of dreading to see him?

I don't know man. A lot of my friends have been asking me if I'm excited to see him since they know that he's coming back soon, but I keep on avoiding answering them or just say yeah since it's the answer they're all expecting. And I haven't really given much thought on how to react to him coming home so soon except for when people ask me about it. And now, lol.

I guess I'm kind of dreading seeing him because I've grown used to just communicating with him electronically; I mean, we have been basically online dating for the past month. I don't think I'm ready to see him in person again and look him in the eyes after all of the stuff that we've talked about in our emails, all of the jokes and confessions and honesty that we've told each other since it's easier to admit these things when you're not looking at someone face-to-face.

It's just gonna be weird, that transition from talking to each other once a day to finally being able to hangout face-to-face again and texting each other whenever we want to.

When I think about it more, I guess it's because I haven't really given myself the time to prepare for what's going to happen afterwards, because I think it's pretty obvious that we're gonna end up together, and that's new and exciting, but holy shit. I am so afraid of being in a relationship and fucking things up and getting my heart broken and caring too much and caring not enough and worrying about stupid shit that shouldn't matter but does and--

This is new territory for me, okay. I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I never think about the future much, but since we've been dating, I've already included him in so many of my future plans that it worries me. I'm only talking about the upcoming months, not the next few years, though, but to have included him at all means that I've pretty much decided on keeping him, right?

Anyway, I think this post has helped me figure out my mixed feelings about his homecoming, so I think I'll go do something productive now, like studying for my Macro test. D:

Arghhhhh this speech is gonna suckkkkk

I have my informative speech tomorrow, and I'm just now preparing for it, and I cannot memorize this speech and its main points in time for tomorrow. D:

I had to choose a topic like the differences in male and female communication style, didn't I? There's too many things to memorize! And I'm just procrastinating even more right now. ;__;

This is gonna be me tomorrow because I'm not gonna remember anything to say.

I just want this to be over with already and get ready to have fun on Friday, lol. I'm going to Atlanta with Shena and some of her friends to eat Asian food, go to the mall, and take pictures. And possibly going to a club or going karaoking. -__-"

It's really funny how all of the guys are wondering what to wear and asking Shena about what everyone else is wearing because we're supposed to be dressing up somewhat nicely. I had her help me pick out an outfit because I didn't know what was nice enough to wear since I have more tomboy-ish clothes, lol.

But yeah, I'm ready for tomorrow to be over already. :P

New season of Teen Wolf tonight!

The season four premiere of Teen Wolf is tonight! I'm so excited!

I wish that I did all of my homework in time so that I wouldn't be doing it all last minute before class starts tonight though. -__-"

Right after class, I'm gonna go home and grab something to eat before going over to Jackie's house to watch the premiere with her and Shanice. I love how this has become our tradition of watching Teen Wolf together, lol.

Summary taken from goodreads:
The choices I had made led to the moment when fate took over. I would learn a lesson I wasn't prepared for. And Death would be my willing teacher.
Five years ago, Abbey Chandler cheated Death. She survived a horrific car accident, but her "lucky" break came at the expense of her mother's life and changed everything. After she crossed paths with Death by taking the hand of an ethereal boy made of clouds and sky she would never be normal again.
Now she's the target of Death's ravens and an innocent boy's life is on the line. When Nate Holden, Abbey's secret crush, starts to climb Alaska's Denali, the Angel of Death stalks him because of her
And Abbey finds out the hard way that Death never forgets.
2 STARS - IT WAS OKAY

MY REVIEW:

This book had so much potential in becoming something great. It could have been about coming to terms with death or an action-packed thriller about Death coming after her. Hell, it could have been about bullying since it was also in the book.

Instead, it's about a girl who's so insanely in love with a guy who doesn't even know that she exists, her best friend who thinks the world of her, and Death that has become interested in her again, which leads to all sorts of weirdness.

I didn't like Abbey that much in the beginning, especially because she was always fantasizing about Nate, her crush. I can only hope that she was like this as a source of escapism, using him as a distraction because of her being bullied at school for being the daughter of a mortician. But then her denial and inability to question things that seemed too good to be true also got on my nerves.

I wished that her best friend, Tanner, had been given more of the limelight since he was pretty awesome. Having to be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and giving up completely on sports because of an accident, he became even more amazing as you got to know more about him and learned about how he came to terms with his disability.

Death was also an interesting character. You eventually learn about why he acted the way that he did, and you can sympathize with his reasoning. But still, he wasn't supposed to do that...

And the whole bullying part of the book; what was the point? It was brought up in the beginning and then never mentioned again until towards the end, like an afterthought. Was it supposed to make Abbey a more sympathetic character? Because it really didn't, especially with the way it was resolved; she didn't learn anything from it. There was no life-lesson, no moral story, no reason to be included in the book.

This Video Explains Why We Have a Music Addiction

Came across this article that stated that music has the same effect on the brain as sex and ended up watching a video explaining why. It basically explains why people are addicted to music, which is the coolest thing ever because I could never put into words why I always want to listen to music no matter what I'm doing.

So yeah, watch the video!

You should also some of their other videos, because they're fascinating. :D

Tumblr Pics 46

Haven't done one of these in a while. Not sure why...

But yeah, not much going on in life right now. I was sick for the past two weeks, but I'm finally recovering. I've just been going to school, procrastinating on studying/homework, and reading a lot of Stucky fanfics. -__-"

I know. I really need to get a job.

I love bookstores (probably too much)

I know that I haven't been reading books much lately, so I don't really even know if I can call myself that much of a bookworm anymore, but I found an article on BuzzFeed about 17 Bookstores That Will Literally Change Your Life, and my love for books just suddenly came rushing back. I just want to visit all of them!

They look so awesome and amazing, and I just really love the atmospheres of bookstores, okay. I have a lot of feelings about them, lol.

But I mean, look at this! One of the bookstores is on a barge.

So yeah, I wanna go travel the world and visit awesome bookstores now. :D

New York Trip Told in Snapchats Part 2

So the next day, we went to this Mexican place that Amanda loves, and it turned out that the whole street was blocked off for some festival or something, so the whole road with lined with different tents and stands for all sorts of food and items. There were food from restaurants nearby but also fair food like fried oreos and lemonade stands.

So after we ate, we just walked around and took everything in before going to this Japanese store that Kyle, Shelle's bf, wanted her to get a book for him. We were walking towards Times Square, so everything was starting to look really nice and fancy, and we saw this huge Godzilla poster on a building with a tour bus that was also promoting the movie stopped nearby, which was funny.

The Japanese store was really cool. The first floor held a lot of translated books and books about Japan while the upstairs was otaku heaven. There were so many books and manga and anime and even sections for music and a cafe. The majority of the manga were in Japanese, but there was a good amount of translated manga to browse through.

I was really impressed with the this painting though. It was the first thing you see when you reach the top of the escalator going to the second floor. It was so big that they even painted the part of the ceiling!

After Shelle found Kyle's book and we browsed around to our content, we went to a park that was across the street from the Japanese building and chilled for a while again. It was pretty entertaining since we sat at a table near this big fountain in the middle of the park, and there were so many people going up to it taking pictures, but they didn't seem to realize that they were standing at the back of the fountain where the sun was shining on it, so they would all appear dark in their pictures.

After that, we walked to Chelsea's Market, which was pretty interesting. We didn't really buy anything though we did stop near this expensive ice cream place inside to relax for a bit since it was a long walk. And pretty crowded as well.

After that, we went to Starbucks since we were thirsty before going to the High Line, this industrial place that turned into a garden-ish long walkway. We just sat around on some more benches and people watched since we didn't have that any plans until later that night.

It was surprisingly pretty cold. It was mainly the wind, I think. But yeah, it was really pretty up there.

While we were walking somewhere, Amanda got a little lost, so we stopped for a little bit and I noticed the doorway behind us had this cool graffiti on it. Super cool man.

For dinner, we went to this Vietnamese place that Amanda likes to go to since I was kind of craving pho. I blame that on the cold weather and because I hadn't had it in a month or two, lol. It was near Chinatown, and I was surprised to see that they had these signs around the place. Apparently, Italy World or something was nearby and also had its own sign, lol.

After dinner, we went to this famous ice cream in Chinatown. Again, I forgot the name, but I do remember why it's so popular. It's known for its different types of ice cream flavors. I ended up getting green tea ice cream just because I love it so much and because it's so difficult to find.

Then we went to our cousins' hotel room since they were still getting ready to go out. Lil ended up doing Shelle and Amanda's hair as well, so they were all dress up to go drinking, lol. Sharon let me go on her work computer while they were out, so I spent the longest time on Tumblr. -__-"

They didn't come back until around three or four in the morning and Shelle brought me back some pizza since I still hadn't tried any New York pizza yet. We took the subway back to Amanda's apartment in a tired daze and passed out almost as soon as we got back.

The next day was Monday, so Amanda had work, which was why we woke up early and I ate the pizza for breakfast while we were getting ready. Shelle and I took the subway with Amanda, but took a different train to go to our cousins' hotel room while Amanda went to work.

We got lost looking for the hotel for a little bit, but we eventually found it. Our cousins were still getting ready and our aunts were on their way out to sight see some more, so I drowsed for a bit since we were waiting for Lil to get ready before going to get some bagels. In the end, Lil was running late to meet up with Viv, so Shelle and I just went to get the bagels ourselves before coming back to the room to eat and watch tv while Sharon got ready.

Then it was noon, and we had to go to the airport. We got there, had lunch, and eventually boarded the plane 20 minutes until takeoff, so we had separate seats this time. Shelle had left her phone in the bathroom downstairs, so she had to go back through security a second time, which took 5ever, which was why we were later than planned.

So yeah, that was my New York trip. It was really fun. I think I spent more money on taxi and cabs than I did anything else, lol. And food, but the food was so worth it. XD

New York Trip Told in Snapchats Part 1

Kind of late, but here I am finally getting around to writing up my New York trip. :)

Basically, I took Groome to the airport where Shelle was already waiting for me since there wasn't enough people at the Warner Robins one to take a one-way trip to Atlanta, so we had to go to the Macon center and wait with people there for the one o'clock trip.

In the end, we reached the airport around three instead of two like I had thought. But it didn't matter because our flight ended up being delayed for a few hours since it was raining pretty bad in New York. That just meant that Shelle and I got to catch up on the whole David thing as we waited, lol.

So we finally board our plane around seven or eight, I think. Our flight was pretty interesting because one of the flight attendants near us looked like he belonged to gang or something. He was attractive, which first got my attention, but the longer I studied him, the more I noticed how like a thug he was--and not in a bad way like with bad manners or anything, more like how he walked with a swagger and sense of confidence in himself. And Shelle and I noticed that he had a tattoo crawling up from the side of his neck and lots of nice arm muscles.

When we finally landed and found Amanda, who we were spending the weekend with, we left the airport. As soon as we stepped outside, we were greeted with a multitude of honking cars as everyone tried to leave, which was amusing. It was still lightly raining, so we rushed to get to a taxi to take us back to Amanda's apartment to set our stuff down before leaving right away to meet up with Chris and her boyfriend at this famous mac and cheese place that Shelle had heard about.

I forgot the name, but the mac and cheese was so good! It definitely helped warm me up after the whole walk to the subway and to the restaurant, where the rain started getting progressively harder. We were all pretty soaked through by the time we got there. But yeah, I decided to try something totally different, so I got a Mediterranean mac and cheese, which had spinach and goat cheese and some other types of cheese. It was really good!

After that, we said our goodbyes and left to go back to Amanda's apartment. It was a pretty tiring day, lol. Our cousins from California wanted to go out drinking, but the rain kind of stopped that. They ended up rescheduling to do it the next night.

The next day, we walked all around New York. We saw the Statue of Liberty from afar, which was fine by me. I didn't really want to get on a ferry crowded with other tourists.

We also saw the Brooklyn Bridge from afar, lol. Then we walked around some more before eating from a street vendor, since we were originally going to get lunch with our cousins, but they weren't out of bed yet, and it was already noon.

We took the subway to another part of New York and stood in a long line to get these amazing cookies from this shop that Amanda really likes. I forgot the name of it, but it was definitely really popular even though it didn't look anything special from the outside, until you finally made it through the threshold and smelt it.

The scent of baking cookies is too great. The cookies were around $4 but worth it. They're really big and even after walking around for half an hour, they were still warm and the chocolate all nice and melty. We all got the almond chocolate chip cookies, Amanda because it's her favorite, and Shelle and I because the other ones had wayy too much chocolate for us to handle, lol.

We ate the cookies while walking around Central Park. We found a nice, shady bench to eat it on and people watch before exploring the park some more. It was really pretty and packed full of people, which made sense. It was a weekend, and everyone was enjoying the weather since yesterday was bad.

There was this castle in the park with a great view of the park. There even was this Asian girl playing violin whilst hula hooping, trying to get money to continue going to music school, which was both sad and amazing.

There was like, three baseball games happening at the same time across the water, so there was so many people over there. Since everyone thinks that I'm a hipster, I ended up just saying too mainstream whenever we went to crowded places, lol.

At one part of the park that was nearer to civilization, some people were selling artwork, and I had to take a pic of the giraffe and send it to David because I call him an awkward giraffe, lol.

We ended up staying at the park for a pretty long time, stopping at this one area that was full of benches to sit at and people watching for a long time since we were pretty tired from walking over a big chunk of the park.

Then we embarked on a super long walk (it was 30 minutes, okay, and I was already tired, lol) to meet up with our cousins at a bar called The Ginger Man or something close to that. In the end, we didn't go there since they carded people at the door, and I was not old enough to get in yet.

We went to a bar across the street, and they didn't even bat an eye at us when we were ordering drinks. Nor did they card us. To be safe though, I just ordered water and some curry fries and hungry.

So we hung out there for a couple hours, catching up with each other. It turns out that Lil and Sharon are both doing long distance relationships, and it was hilarious how attached to her phone Sharon was texting her bf all night. Of course they asked us about our love lives as well, and Shelle had already told them about her boo, so I was in for a lot of teasing about David even though we were just friends at that point. But yeah, I definitely had already made up my mind to ask him what we were when I came back because I really didn't know where we stood.

Then we went back to Amanda's apartment with the promise to go out drinking with the next night after Viv's graduation as a celebration. I wasn't old enough, so I was just going to stay at the hotel room with our aunts, lol, which was fine with me since the next day was also pretty tiring.

I think I'm gonna leave this post here since it's already ridiculously long, and there's still so much more to tell. Lol, Part 2 will come soon.
