August was an exciting month because we got a new roomie! Baby Luna was born near the beginning of the month and has taken over our lives ever since. :D She’s so cute. Everything she does is cute. Even her cries are cute and pitiful. Her babbles are super cute, and her timing is impeccable! Sometimes, she’ll interject while we’re talking around her like she’s stating her opinion, too, lol. My phone already has so many pics of her. :D
I love being an aunt. I get to hold her and play with her but not have to deal with the sleepless nights, feeding every 3 hours, and diaper changes lol. Luckily, Shelle and Kyle are doing a lot better. They’ve figured out a routine that allows them to get more sleep than at least before.
Since Luna was born, our mom came up to live with us for a month. It was nice eating her cooking and hanging out, but over time, it made us realize that we really can’t live together for long periods of time again because our habits and lifestyle changed since we moved out. There’s no big contradiction, but it was an accumulation of little things like how we cook or clean or deal with leftovers.
The parents on both sides were starting to become another source of irritation. We get it, you’re excited to become grandparents and see your grandchild, but it was getting ridiculous and annoying. They’re parenting style was already too eager and spoiled. For example, when it was time to feed Luna, my parents were reluctant to wake her up because she was sleeping so sweetly…not like she doesn’t immediately go back to sleep after eating. >__> This would instead delay her feeding time and make her more irritated when she woke up, ruining Shelle and Kyle’s whole routine they were trying to establish.
Another example was Kyle's mom, Lee Ann. She asked to come visit and made it seem like it was just her coming over and then decided to surprise them by bringing his stepdad and grandparents over as well without any warning. This pissed them off immediately. First, it was about safety. They didn’t know who they were around previously and if any of them were sick and could spread to Luna. Second, Kyle hates this “surprise” type of shit, and his mom should have known it. Third, Lee Ann was super clingy and not letting Luna sleep. When Luna was sleeping in the bassinet, Lee Ann would come over and scoop her up as soon as she made a noise, which would wake her up eventually. Luna wasn’t even making any distressed sounds. She just made A sound, and Lee Ann would immediately come over and pick her up, which irritated the parents since Luna wasn’t getting any restful sleep.
So yeah, having a baby is nice and all, but it can get stressful not just from taking care of a baby but because of your overbearing family.
Throughout all of this, I still went out and had some fun. I met up with Tian for dinner one day after work. We originally planned to go to Mamak to try Malay food but found out too late that it was closed on Tuesdays, so I took him to Sokongdong Tofu House, which was nearby. I was introduced to this place from my cousin a year ago and really wanted to come back and have more Korean food, so it was great timing lol. Then we got Kung Fu tea, since it was also in the same plaza and talked for a while.
The next weekend, Alec and I went to this glass blowing class with some of his friends and coworkers, which was fun. It was also SUPER HOT. Holy crap, I felt like I was roasting when I was standing in front of the ovens. We chose to do pumpkins, since our group was so large. We got to choose the colors for the pumpkin and its stem, and the results were pretty cool!
Mine is the blue one and Alec’s is the multicolored one.
We also went to a pretty cool pizza place afterwards called Savage Pizza. It’s comic book themed, so it was cool seeing all of the paraphernalia on the walls and counters.
Two weeks later, Alec and I headed back down to Warner Robins on Thursday night. We worked remotely from my parents house on Friday and drove over to the wedding venue to have Jackie and Ben’s rehearsal dinner because they were getting married the next day! The venue, Hummingbird Hill Farms, was so pretty! It just was so hot and humid that I didn’t want to step outside lol. Unfortunately we had to go outside for a bit to practice walking and positioning since the ceremony was outside.
The decorations and setup were really nice, too. By the time we left, the tables and seating arrangements were completed, and the bride and groom stage in the front was basically finished.
We were surprisingly on time during the wedding the next day. The bride and her bridesmaids were in the bridal suite in time, got ready in time, and finished taking getting ready pics on time. We even had time for Shanice to make a pretty charcuterie board like when we did it in last year’s cabin trip lol.
We helped her mom get the bouquets and boutonnieres ready downstairs while she went upstairs to take pics with Jackie while I ran interference, since Jackie has been getting irritated with her mom whenever they talked about the wedding. Meanwhile, the boyfriends came a little early and ended up helping out with the flowers downstairs with the groomsmen lol.
The ceremony went well except for the part at the end when we were getting ready to walk back to the reception building where I hit the little table holding the glasses used for their unity shot. Both glasses fell on the ground and shattered. I didn’t know until later that Meethu completely forgot to wear her shoes when we went down to line up to walk out with the groomsmen, so she had to carefully tread across the ground that was littered in shattered glass… Oops…
After the ceremony, there were more pictures for the wedding party and the bride and groom’s parents. That took a while, but the scenery was really nice, so I’m excited to see the pics when they come out.
Then we finally came back inside and had the first dances before finally having food! Lol I wasn’t even that hungry because we were snacking upstairs in the bridal suite all morning, but that didn’t stop me from being excited about the food and dessert! The food was okay. The mac and cheese was great, but the meat was too dry. I think because I wasn’t starving, I was more picky about the food. But the desserts were great! Jackie and Ben had been hyping it up before, so I was especially excited to try everything with Alec and wasn’t disappointed lol.
Towards the end of the night, almost everyone left except for the wedding party and some family and friends. Jackie and Ben had been drinking all night, especially after Jackie broke out the fire extinguisher that spouted out shots of alcohol. When Jackie drinks too much, she starts ranting at people. We kept on seeing her ranting and decided it was time for her to cool down and change out of her wedding dress in case she starts spewing. It was really difficult to take her away from her ranting object, her coworkers' poor boyfriend lol, so Ben had to eventually fireman carry her away to the groom’s room so that we could change her clothes.
It was a good move because we left her with Ben while we were out helping clean up until Ben asked for our help because she was in the bathroom puking. Meethu and Emily went to help out while Shanice and I cleaned up the bridal suite. When we went down to see the situation, it got worse. Jackie passed out and vomited in the handicap stall. The floors were slippery, so Ben (still drunk but coherent) fell a couple of times trying to pick her up. She puked over her clothes, so they had changed her into her spare clothes after finally moving her out of the stall and into the pathway in front of the stalls before she started puking again.Luckily, Luke, a nurse, was there to help give advice because Jackie hit her head a few times when she fell over, and we were worried she might have a concussion. She was at least coherent enough to answer our questions when she woke up briefly, but she was basically dead weight.
Meanwhile, the rest of the guys were outside the bathroom grabbing more paper towels and water for us and looking for any movable chairs or objects to help transport Jackie out of the bathroom and into Terry’s truck. Terry is Ben’s cousin and best man who had agreed to take them to their hotel at the end of the night. He also let Jackie borrow his shirt because she ran out of clothes to change into.
In the end, Josh found a cart used to move foldable tables, so it was basically a gurney, but it was too big to fit in the bathroom, so we had to get Jackie out of the bathroom first. I think it took four guys to pick her up and transfer her onto the cart. Then, we all surrounded her as Josh pushed the cart to the backdoor, where the cars were parked. Terry had already pulled up his truck, so we just needed to get the bride and groom outside and into his truck. We were too optimistic lol.
As we pushed her near the door, Jackie woke up and decided to lean forward and almost fell off the cart. We caught her in time, but Ben somehow slipped and fell. Some of his cousins checked on him while we tried to keep Jackie on the cart because she was awake again. When we looked back, Ben was still dizzy on the ground. All of the alcohol finally got to him. He was still pretty coherent, but he could NOT move. Now, it was a struggle lifting Jackie into the truck while helping Ben walk outside lol. It took a lot of manpower, but we finally did it.
Terry asked for someone to come with him to help move them into the hotel, so Meethu and Luke went with them while the rest of us helped clean up the venue because the owners were coming by to lock up soon, and we needed to clean up the venue. Luckily, we had the mop and bucket ready early on, so Alec (also super drunk but coherent) mopped up the bathroom in time, and then we all finally drove home.
Drunk Alec is super coherent and helpful, so he was a great team player all night. However, as soon as he sat in the co-pilot seat and layed down for a bit, the alcohol finally got to him. I didn’t realize just how bad it was until we got back in the house. My room is upstairs, so we have to walk up the stairs to get up first. I was carrying a lot of stuff, so I walked past Alec on the stairs to drop stuff off, since he was clutching onto the railing and walking at a snail’s pace. I thought it was fine since he was at least consistently walking up the stairs while I grabbed the rest of our stuff from downstairs.
When we finally made it to my room, Alec wanted to take a shower, so he started stripping and asked about his glasses. He wore contacts today, and we realized that his bag with his glasses were still in the car, so I went back out and grabbed his stuff. When I walked back upstairs, I saw that the door to the bathroom was open and that there was a naked figure lying in front of the bathtub trying to turn on the faucet. IN THE DARK. Like some weird horror movie lmao.
I quickly ran in and turned on the light and asked what he was doing?? He innocently answered that he was trying to turn on the water. I thought this was just him being extra slow because he’s drunk. It’s not until he was lying in the bathtub with the shower on and started talking to me about how you only need three points of contact to get around anywhere that I realized that this drunkard has been blind THIS WHOLE TIME. Sometime between getting out of the car and getting into the house, HE HAD HIS EYES CLOSED THE WHOLE TIME. No wonder he was going up the stairs so slowly! No wonder the bathroom lights were off! No wonder he took so long trying to turn the water on!
I was so busy getting everything and settling things around that I totally missed the fact that his eyes were closed! He was so calm that I didn’t think there was anything off other than him being extra slow lmao! After drying off, he slowly made his way to the bed and finally fell asleep.
The next day, he didn’t remember anything after drinking his last shot lol. When I retold the whole story later that day to Shelle and Kyle, it was all news to him as well lmaooo
Weddings are so eventful lol.
A few days later, we drove downtown to go see Seventeen’s concert! It was so fun! Unfortunately, Joshua and Hoshi weren’t there because they got Covid, so there were only 11 members, but it was still great hearing their music live and seeing all of their fan interactions!
We also saw some of Alec’s friends when we were standing in line for merch afterwards lol.
It was a great way to end the month. All in all, August was a blast :)
