Mini Reviews: Apocalypse Lord, Nurse Becomes a Boss in the Last Days, What Kind of Evil Can an NPC Have? [Unlimited]

Title: Apocalypse Lord
Author: 轻云淡
Chapters: 80 chapters
Publication: 2020
Summary from Novel Updates:

Yun Ling was invited to attend the public beta test of “Apocalypse Calamity.” In the end, she successfully survived a hundred days, and obtained the “Lord Token”, “Life Skill Level Retention” and “S Rank Skill” as rewards.

The beta ended, and she waited with anticipation for the opening of the game. But then the world became the game… …

Yun — life skill player — Ling thought, what could she do? Continue to drag out her ignoble existence.

Intermediate Fishing, Intermediate Foraging, Advanced Sewing, Advanced Cooking. So many life skills in hand. She wanted to hoard grain, produce, recruit troops, build, and turn her land into an indestructible steel fort.

4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

There's not many apocalypse novels available that aren't about zombie apocalypse. This one was even more unique because it started as a beta version of a VR game that in turn went into the real world.

As a lord, I think Yun Ling's management strategy was smart. She tried to be as fair as possible. Also, I really like her hoarding tendencies because I'm totally the same in video games lol.

If you're looking for romance, it's so light that you can almost miss it. If you're looking for slice of life but enough action and tension to keep you invested in each chapter, then you're looking for the right book!

Title: Nurse Becomes a Boss in the Last Days
Author: 月沉沉霜
Chapters: 79 chapters
Publication: 2021
Summary from jjwxc:

Song Sisi is a veteran of holographic online games.

Occupation: Nurse.

Life skills are at full level, yes, she is a heavy online game enthusiast who is said to be addicted to life skills and unable to extricate herself.

One day, when she was picking medicine with a small sickle in the wild, she stumbled into the group battlefield of the krypton gold player.

After the death, Song Sisi found out that she was wearing it. Bringing her game attributes into the apocalyptic inspirational cool article she put aside before entering the game, she became the cannon fodder villain female supporting role of the same name. Or the kind that is about to get a box lunch.

Help, help, she is a salted fish!

In order to save her dog's life, Song Sisi decided to stay away from her sister Meiqiangsa and her CP.

The apocalypse will come in three days, right? Looking for a house, hoarding supplies, and counting down to death by being obedient, bah, no, being obedient and wretched.

Song Sisi felt that with these, she was enough to save the world by the heroine and the hero.

One day, she inadvertently used her professional skills to save an ugly man who fell on the edge of her farm, and then she became a famous apocalyptic doctor.

Every day, all kinds of people come to ask her to take action and defect. Slowly, the farm became a base, and the farmer became the base owner... Brain hurts!

Even the prospective brother-in-law who disliked her and treated her like a scorpion pulled her face down with her seriously injured sister to ask her for treatment.

Then she found out that the ugly monster who acted with her all day turned out to be the great villain in the later period who was known as the most handsome in the book, followed the heroine and had a crush on the heroine, and finally fell in love with him but had to be ruthlessly blackened.

So, is it too late for her to poison the villain now?

Demining:

  1. Work hard on sand sculptures. So far there are no sand sculptures.
  2. I am very vegetable I know.
  3. The private setting is like a mountain. If you don't like it, don't force it. The author does not know how to write copy.
  4. The heroine only has golden fingers, and she does not and will not awaken any abilities. The heroine is not invincible at the beginning!
  5. It’s normal to feel awkward and embarrassed. I was embarrassed to death when I wrote it.
  6. Logic doesn't pop out of nowhere.

4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

This was hilarious! I was constantly amused by Song Sisi's and her friends' antics! Other bases always have power struggles, but her farm is the opposite. Everyone just wants to go out and kill zombies lol.

The plot twist at the end was very unexpected, but I liked it lol.

Title: What Kind of Evil Can an NPC Have? [Unlimited]
Author: 九阶幻方
Chapters: 143 chapters + 6 extras
Publication: 2021
Summary from jjwxc:

One day Ning Ge met a person on the road, and the person "sent" her a bracelet before he died. From the bracelet, Ning Ge discovered several things:

First, this world is an infinite flow task world.

Second, she is an NPC.

Third, the world will be wiped out in eight hours and cease to exist.

Pei Han, the world-famous top-tier Alpha whose mission is constantly operating, suddenly did not do his right job, and there was no movement.

Big Brother Pei: I've been busy eating soft rice recently, don't bother.

Everyone (horrified): Soft rice? Whose soft rice to eat?

Mr. Pei: It's a piece of code. The kind that each character is especially cute.

4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

I rarely read infinite flow just because I haven't found many novel summaries that interested me enough. However, I decided to give this novel a shot because the summary was VERY interesting (NPC gaining wisdom!) and because I loved the author's other novel A Fake Holy Mother in the Zombie Apocalypse. That novel was hilarious, so I was kind of hoping to see the same level of comedic humor in What Kind of Evil Can an NPC Have?

While the focus of the book was more on unraveling all of the puzzles to escape the task worlds and Ning Ge and Pei Han's romance, there WAS just enough humor to balance the tension because holy crap, people keep on dying in these task worlds.

But each task world was diverse and so interesting! I really liked the train world, puppet world, and invasion world. I MTLed the whole book, so I didn't understand some of the clue explanations. If someone ever decides to translate this novel, I would definitely read it again.
