New Orleans Trip

What spurred on this trip was the fact that I was around $75 away from being a Delta Silver Medallion member, so my coworker told me to do a cheap day trip somewhere before the end of the year.

Since I like traveling with others, I asked my friend and boyfriend if they where down to go to New Orleans since the flights were cheap. They were the ones who actually convinced me to make it a weekend trip instead lol. Jessica ended up not going, so it became a weekend trip with the bae instead, which I definitely didn't mind.

The only downside was that we had early flights around 7am each way, so we woke up early and did our best to make the best of each day.

Friday, December 20th:
  • Woke up at 4:30am and headed to the airport
  • Landed around 8:30
  • Tried and failed to check into our Airbnb since it was the right time yet
  • Walked to Cafe du Monde for breakfast
  • Tried their beignets and Cafe au Lait (delicious!)
  • Explored the shops nearby
  • Sampled lots of pralines
  • Explored the French Market
  • Bought some souvenir long-sleeve shirts for ourselves
  • Tried alligator sausage and seafood gumbo that's been featured on the Food Network
  • Ate lunch at a Creole restaurant where we tried jumbalaya, etouffee, and shrimp po boys
  • Walked around Bourbon Street
  • Checked into our Airbnb and rested for a bit
  • Ate fried chicken and tried a frozen mixed drink at Willie's for dinner
  • Relaxed for the rest of the night

Saturday, December 21th:
  • Tried beignets at Cafe Beigent for breakfast the next day, which also had a live band perform
  • Walked around and bought pralines and souvenirs for people
  • Went back to the Airbnb to nap since it was drizzling a lot
  • Napped a lot since we were exhausted from yesterday
  • Went to dinner at Trenasse for their happy hour oysters
  • Ordered way too much delicious food since we had skipped lunch lol
  • Got dessert at Amorino since we passed by it a few times and it always looked tasty
  • Packed up

Sunday, December 22nd:
  • Woke up around 5am
  • Headed to the airport and got assigned Comfort+ seats (I think it's cuz we checked into our flight late the night before)
  • Ate breakfast at Pho Dai Loi
  • Drove back to David's place
  • Started watching The Witcher on Netflix
  • Went back home

Overall, an eventful and tiring weekend!

Harry Potter, VR, Group Costumes, Weddings, Game Night, Dinners, Concerts, Thanksgiving, & Friendsgiving

I've been slacking on updates for the past couple of months. It's mainly because I've been busy, lazy, or procrastinating since I haven't really felt in a blogging mood for a while.

Plus, I was traveling a lot for a while, so I got backlogged on my travel posts. I think that made me more unmotivated to blog since I felt like I needed to get those posts out first. Now idgaf lol. I'll get to them eventually if I even want to do it anymore lol.

Here's a couple snapshots of how October and November has been for me!

OCTOBER:

Kyle, Michelle, Archana, Raj, David, and I got dinner together one Saturday. This was because Archana wanted to introduce us to her boyfriend before we went to go watch Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in concert which had a live orchestra performing. It was awesome! I hadn't watch the movie in years, so I forgot how funny it was! And Raj was really nice and sweet, so I liked him, too, lol.

We did an Avengers VR thing with a bunch of Kyle and Michelle's friends. We got to put on these backpacks and helmets and helped fight against robots during Infinity War. It was pretty fun, and I want to go back since they have a scary VR scenario, too!

Michelle and I made canh chua, which is Vietnamese sweet and sour soup, for the first time. Mom's version was never spicy because she was worried my bro wouldn't be able to handle it, so it was our first time having a spicy version, and I was in love lol.

Then, for work, our team and some other people on our floor got together to do a giant team costume since we had a costume contest. We were all just a bunch of puns like identity theft, jack in the box, and formal apologies lol. We made this sign so people could try to figure us out.

NOVEMBER:

Emily and Sean got married! It was a really pretty wedding; there was a waterfall for their backdrop! Pretty cold though, since it was outside lol. No matter, we had a lot of fun since we had rented out an Airbnb for the weekend and basically had a reunion with all of the boyfriends around lol.

This is a pic of Emily looking for Sean so she can surprise him with a first look! :D He cried when he saw her lol.

I got sick the next week, but that didn't stop David and me from going to Gibbs Gardens for the Japanese Maple Colorfest to see all of the pretty maple trees in fall. I've been wanting to go for a while as my birthday present lol. I doped up on medicine and almost coughed out a lung on the way there, but it was all good when we walked around the gardens.

Later that night, we went over to Archana's apartment for game night with a bunch of coworkers since we decided last minute to have a game night since it was Labor Day weekend lol. It was so fun and funny since almost everyone brought alcohol and snacks, so we were lit all night. There were a lot of memorable quotes like "loving can hurt" from when Archana serenaded us with her ukulele and "okay boomer" lol.

The next Friday, Jack and I took Ebony out for dinner and dessert since she was having a rough week with her husband. We ate dinner at Hello Chicken since they both haven't been there before, and then got dessert at the matcha cafe across the street. We tried the raindrop cake that went viral on the internet last year. It was pretty light, which was needed since we were still stuffed from dinner.

Last Monday, I went to Jay Park's Sexy 4eva concert with Kyle, Michelle, Sam, and her sis, Dominique. I wasn't super excited about his concert at first since I haven't listened to him for a while, but I started getting hyped after catching up with his music on Spotify. He's such a good performer with really smooth dance moves, which should have been expected since he started off as a bboy I think. Even his backup dancers were hot lol.

I also really liked one of his opening acts, Ted Park, who was really hyped and authentically himself even on stage.

Last Wednesday, we celebrated Thanksgiving at work with our yearly potluck. I ate so much food. It was great lol. Then, because it was happy hour at Starbucks a few hours later, we also went and got coffee to help fight the food coma from lunch. It was great!

This past Saturday, we had Friendsgiving at Alec's house, so I basically stuffed myself again. I definitely gained weight this past week lol. I also brought back a bunch of leftovers along with other food mom gave us, so we didn't need to food prep this week. -__-"

For actually Thanksgiving in the next few days, we're going down to visit the parentals and having seafood, I think. Then we're heading down to Florida for a cruise. So yeah, busy month!

Packing, Moving, Unpacking, & Packing Again

Most of July revolved around packing, moving, and unpacking. Then Ebony and I went to Copenhagen for eight days. It was a hectic month.

David started working at his official accounting job on July 1st, so we went out to eat at the Chinese place we like in Kennesaw to celebrate. We tried the Chinese bubble pancakes as an appetizer and really like it!

I decided not to go to Lance and Sam's Fourth of July party on the actual holiday. Instead, David came over on the third and we spent the night watching The Rising of the Shield Hero, which was a really good anime.

That Friday, I came to pick David up and see his new living situation before we went down to Warner Robins. We decided to get dinner at Bento Box since we've always seen it but ate at the restaurants next to it lol. We had this high schooler as our waiter, who was unintentionally hilarious lol. Half of the things that we wanted to order were out of stock, so every time we'd want to order something, he'd be like "ooh we're out of that" and felt bad since this was our first time there. The food was still good since we ordered takoyaki and different types of bao among other things.

After that, we went down to celebrate the Fourth of July at Alec's house, where he had a huge BBQ and lots of fireworks like usual. It was great seeing everyone again, and we met Harnish's new girlfriend who got drunk off of the whole bottle of wine that they brought lol. She kept on talking about veganism to Mikey and Jerry even though they had already changed the topic, so Jerry threw her to David to talk about their restaurant jobs. Poor David had to listen to her talk for at least an hour since I abandoned him lol.

After I came back that weekend, it was nonstop packing and moving boxes of stuff to the new house after work. The worst part was the we weren't even done packing by the time the movers came on Saturday morning. So while they were busy loading up their trucks with our furniture and boxes, Shelle and I were packing up the kitchen and office. They came around 10am and didn't leave until 8pm. It was crazy. One wall of the loft was just stacked high with boxes.

There was a bunch of small stuff left at the old house that we didn't pack, so we spent the next day packing all of that up and moving it to the new house. We had a lot of clothes and furniture to donate, so we had to move all of the clothes for the Vietnam Veterans of America to our front porch and all of the furniture to the garage before we left. I was just glad to finally stop going back and forth from the old house to the new house.

The next Thursday, Starbucks had a BOGO deal on frappuccinos for Happy Hour, so a bunch of us took a 30 minute break and headed over to the Starbucks at the mall. As we left the mall, we found out that the Amazon Prime Treasure Truck had set up shop in front of the mall entrance and was giving away free energy drinks. So we came back with a bunch of free drinks lol. It was a good day even though we all melted from the heat.

The next week was David and my five year anniversary. We went out to Tuk Tuk to celebrate since I've been wanting to take him there for ages. The food was really good, but I kept embarrassing him in front of our waiter lmao. I had originally wanted the food to be spicy, but then I remembered that he couldn't handle too spicy stuff, so I changed my mind in front of the waiter while David was like no, keep it spicy, it's fine. When the waiter left, he turned to me and was like "you're fucking embarrassing me!" all exasperated lol. Later, the waiter asked if we wanted dessert and started listing their daily specials. David immediately said, "we'll take it" when we heard mango sticky rice, but then I was like, "wait, I want to see the rest of the menu" and embarrassed him again! Lolol. It was a fun night.

The next week, we started hardcore unpacking the house since the parents wanted to come up and visit in a week or two. That was exhausting since we had to upack after we got home every day.

In between all of the unpacking, I also had to pack for Copenhagen since Ebony and I were leaving that Friday. I'll make a separate post about Copenhagen soon. I've just been lazy about posting since I've been meaning to post all of the pics on Instagram but keep on forgetting to.

Shows I'm Currently Watching: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? II, Titans, The Untamed, & The King's Avatar

I've been watching a lot of anticipated shows for the past few weeks.

CURRENTLY WATCHING:

I wasn't even expecting there to be a sequel out! That's why I've bought and read the light novels for the past few years! But I'm happy that there is a sequel because I already know that there's going to be some awesome battles ahead! Watching the new episodes helps also helps refresh my memory about what happened in the books, which is why I was ready to read volumes 10 and 11 while I was in Copenhagen.

I forgot how much they like to focus on bouncing boobs in the anime, but it's just a small part of the episode, so I don't really mind it.

I've been meaning to watch this since I found out that they was going to be a live action version of Teen Titans. Of course, I should have known that it would be kind of dark like the rest of the DC series are, and the animated version got pretty dark. too. I'm also really loving Beast Boy's and Starfire's characters in here! Gar is such a cute goofball looking out for everyone, and Kori is unapologetically herself even though she doesn't remember herself.

I was watching this on Netflix in Denmark. Now I need to watch it somewhere else since it's not on American Netflix  lol.

The drama is the live action version of The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation. You know, the donghua (Chinese version of anime) that I fell in love with earlier this year and have been waiting for the second season to come out this year. Well, I randomly found out that there's a live action drama that came out last month and will be finishing up this month and that the second season of the donghua just started last week as well! Great news all around! The only thing that sucks is that due to China's censorship, the true romance pairing will not be shown in either the donghua or drama.

Regardless, the actors in the drama are so good that you can tell from all of the little hints and subtle clues from their facial expressions and actions that they like each other. Ugh, I just forgot how sad it gets for a certain arc; I had to take a break and read a fluffy story to feel better after watching those couple of episodes lol. That's probably what stopped me from reading the novel that its based on because I wasn't ready for all of those sad emotions right after I finished watching the donghua last year. I'm on episode 21 now, and the comments say that the next couple of episodes are also going to be sad, so I'm not sure if my heart can handle this lol. I'm weak. XD I just want the main characters to be happy!

I've been waiting for this drama since last year when they announced that it was being made into a drama! I loved the anime version so much that it got me interested in reading the Chinese novel, but then school got busy, so I had to stop reading for a while. When I got back into it, the website that translated the novel moved to a different website where you had to pay to read each chapter, so I didn't bother catching up since it was hundreds of chapters ahead, and I was poor lol (and there were a lot of side character's who I forgot about). That's why I was super excited to find out that they were making a drama version of this series, and it's actually on Netflix as of yesterday!

I'm about halfway through the series and am loving it! I remembered a lot of the plot since I think I stopped reading around chapter 400, and it has been really fun seeing how everything plays out in live action. Since it's a drama, a lot of the plot differed from the novel like how all of the team members end up meeting at the game cafe so soon, but it's not a bad change as you can see their teamwork grow earlier on.

I'm just kind of annoyed with Chen Guo's character in the drama because I feel like they really made her annoying and stupid for comedic effect. I felt like her realization arc was pretty draggy, especially when she tried to think of making Ye Xui stay.

I am at a part where the plot's surpassed where I last left off in the books, so I'm super excited to see what happens next!

FINISHED:

I watched this on the plane ride to and back from Copenhagen earlier this month, and man was this drama engrossing. It's only six episodes, but shit goes down! You've got a zombie outbreak that everyone's trying to keep hidden, a power hungry minister, a prince with charged with treason, a medic who's trying to save everyone (the actress is my favorite character from Sense 8!), and a guy who's really good at surviving. And a bunch of zombies and really great cinematography. It's so good! I can't wait for the next season to come out!

Koreans are really good at the zombie genre. I highly recommend Train to Busan as well if you're looking for a zombie movie. I think it's still on Netflix, too.

After years of waiting, season two finally came out! This season was created by a different animation studio than the original one, so there were slight differences in character design and animation. The plot was also a lot different compared to the first season. This time, it focused on a lot of new characters with sprinkles of Saitama for comedic effect. I liked and didn't like this aspect since I really like Saitama's character and wanted to see him more, but at the same time, I liked learning about these new characters and seeing how they interacted with Saitama. Lol poor Genos is still too serious but still trying his best, too.

Weddings, Dinner Parties, Game Nights, Father's Day, Birthday Parties, Ali Wong, & Going Home

June was busy but also not busy? I finally had some downtime during the weekdays, but all of my weekends were busy!

The first weekend of June, I was at a Vi's wedding. We basically grew up together since our birthday's are a month apart. Then, her parents moved to Florida, so our family gradually stopped visiting each other as much. I think I haven't seen her for at least five years before going to her wedding lol. But her wedding was really nice and pretty. Their wedding party was huge, at least 10 people for each side.

For dessert, they supported their friend's popsicle business and had custom made popsicles. The most notable flavor was cafe sua da! It was really good. I probably stayed up late because of that lol.

The Thursday afterwards, Shelle and I went over to Archana's apartment for a dinner party. She spent the night before making her mom's butter chicken, which was a first for her since she's vegetarian lol. Dom, Esther, and Bianca were also there. It was a nice night. We talked about a lot of stuff and all took the Bingo Theory quiz. I found out that I'm a masculine energy. Can't really remember my number, but I think it was around 26, so I'm near being evenly balanced in energies.

The funniest part was when Dom was so cold that Archana had to bring out her comforter for her. Dom basically became a blanket burrito by the end of the night lol. It was very cute. XD

That weekend, I went down to Warner Robins to visit the parents. David and I went over to Harnish's house for a Super Smash Bro party with our friends since the game came out recently. That's when I found out that Harnish and his now ex broke up because she moved out of state for grad school and didn't want to do long distance. Now he's back to hooking up with girls on Tinder like how he was during his last breakup. :(

The next Monday, I actually worked out for the first time since before we left for Korea. Then I got sick the next day. :( I had the beginnings of a sore throat and a runny nose the first day. I got a cough the next couple of days, which sucked. I was more or less better by the weekend except for the occasional cough, which was good since it was Father's Day weekend.

Mom made a feast for us that Saturday. She grilled so much ribs and pork and chicken wings! It was great! :D The next day, we took dad out to eat, and I finally got to pay for the meal. I promised mom and dad that I would treat them out for Mother's Day the previous month since I was officially hired at my job (no longer an intern!), but they ended up paying because they invited some friends out as well. To make up for it, I got to pay for Father's Day. :)

The next weekend, David came up to visit. We went out to a new Szechwan place for dinner, and it was great. Kyle and I died and fell in love with their hot and sour soup immediately. Then the rest of the food came out, and it was so good that David and I came back two weeks later to celebrate his first day of work lol.

Shelle and I had a dentist appointment in the morning, which was funny because her dentist appointment was originally the week before, but then it got moved to 30 minutes before my appointment. Afterwards, Shelle and Kyle went furniture shopping because (I think) the weekend before, they had finally decided to buy a new house. Meanwhile, David and I went out to eat dinner at a Thai place near the house. While all four of us were out, we had a power blackout in our area for a good 20 minutes.

Later that night, David and I went to Archana's place for game night. Shelle and Kyle had to go to a birthday dinner first, so they met up with us after, which was perfectly fine since Archana has been wanting to learn how to play Settlers of Catan for a long time, and Kyle hates playing Catan lol. It was really funny because Archana isn't a competitive person, but she decided to be competitive and started trash talking David while playing Catan even though it was her first time playing lmao. Every time she'd roll the dice, she'd say something like, "Are you guys ready to lose?!".

Then I won the first game even though David and I were taking it easy on her lol. Because of that, the two of them decided to form a coalition against me and wouldn't trade resources with me. Lmao, I still won in the end. :D

After they came, we played a couple rounds of Splendor with Shelle and Kyle before calling it quits for the night since it was already 1 in the morning. All in all, a very fun night.

The next Friday was Esther's birthday party. She had rented an entire house on Airbnb the month before to have dinner and a sleepover at the place. Originally, Archana and I were going to spend the night, but Archana had stayed up until 5am doing a webinar for our Europe region and was sleep deprived and I was super tired from staying up late packing all week since we were moving soon, so we decided to just go to the party and go back home that night.

I was originally planning on just wearing my work clothes to the party, but Archana forced me to dress up with her since she was already wearing a dress lol. I had to borrow a dress, makeup, and shoes from her lol. It was all very rushed when I came to pick her up since I stayed late at the office working and reading a Chinese novel lol.

But the party was fun. I met a lot of new people and took a couple of shots. Archana drank like 3 cups of wine and was drunk by the end of the night. Lol I couldn't even tell that she was drunk at first since she acted pretty much the same but a little sillier than usual.

The next night, Jessica came to visit us since Kyle ordered tickets to the Ali Wong show for us as a birthday present to Shelle. Omg it was hilarious! She had a hilarious opening act who was this hilarious guy named Sheng Wang. He started off by saying that he wasn't Ali Wong's brother and that he also wasn't her husband. He was just a whole 'nother Asian lmao. Dude, my stomach was hurting from laughing so much at times.

Then Ali Wong came on, and she was super funny as well. Before we even got in the venue, we had to put our phones and smart watches in these black bags since we weren't allowed to record in the show. At first, we thought maybe it was because she was filming a new Netflix special, so they couldn't let anyone record it. Well, we quickly found out the real reason: it's because she flashes us during one of her skits lol.

Great show over all. I hope Sheng Wang gets his own Netflix special or something because I would love to hear him perform some more.

The next day, we made a short day trip down to Warner Robins since mom hasn't been feeling well all week.

And that was how I spent my June! Very busy lol.

Cover Lover 54

I'm exhausted. I never want to move again.

One day... I will live a minimalistic lifestyle lol.
