Summary taken from goodreads:
Zoë Sorensson is perfectly normal, except she's been told she's destined for great things. Zoë's the one female dragon shapeshifter of her kind. But Zoë is at the bottom of the class when it comes to being Pyr and her powers are AWOL, so she's sent to a Pyr boot camp.
Zoë quickly realizes that she has to master her powers yesterday, because the Pyr are in danger and boot camp is a trap. The Mages want to eliminate all shifters and the Pyr are next in line-unless Zoë and her friends can work together and save their own kind.

MY REVIEW:

Kind of had high expectations because I love dragons, but the first half was kind of lame and draggy (mainly because Zoë was like this lovesick fool half of the time). However, everything made more sense as you continued reading the book although some parts were still really vague; they kept on mentioning firestorms but never really explained what it was or how it occurs. I know that this series is more of a young adult spinoff series to the author's other adult dragon series, but she could have explained the whole dragon aspect more clearly.

Anyway, don't know if I want to read the sequel because the book didn't really stand out all that much to me. :/

MY REVIEW:

This volume seemed more like a filler with lots of pining in it. It kept on leading up to an event but nothing really happened until towards the end when it left off with a cliffhanger.

Another thing that bothered me was the fact that it ended so quickly! The last third of the book was two oneshots of a new spin-off series the author is currently working on. I liked the oneshots enough, but it was obvious that it wasn't what I was looking for when I picked up this volume.

Title: La Corda d'Oro vol. 17
Author: Yuki Kure
Pages: 200
Publication: May 7, 2013
Publisher: Viz Media
Summary taken from goodreads:
Every few years, the prestigious Seisou Academy holds a prominent musical competition, and only the very best students at the Academy are allowed to participate. Though all are eligible to apply, only students from the music department actually make it to the competition...until now. While Len studies the violin in Europe, Kahoko swears to keep him in her heart…as her musical inspiration, that is. But could he be something more? Kahoko finds it harder and harder to deny her feelings, but the boys of Seisou Academy seem bent on making her forget about Len. At long last, it’s time for her to make a choice—for music and for love.

MY REVIEW:

Having stuck by this series for a long while, I'm glad that it's finally over. It didn't drag on too long, and it was entertaining for the most part.

However, I'm kind of disappointed with the ending. It ended off on a good note, but I wish it had expanded a little more on all of the characters with an afterward or something that showed everyone in the future and how they're getting on.
