Love is all you need... or is it? Penny's about to find out in this wonderful debut.

Penny is sick of boys and sick of dating. So she vows: no more. It's a personal choice. . .and, of course, soon everyone wants to know about it. And a few other girls are inspired. A movement is born: The Lonely Hearts Club (named after the band from Sgt. Pepper). Penny is suddenly known for her nondating ways . . . which is too bad, because there's this certain boy she can't help but like. . . .
4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

A really great, quick read with an awesome message: you don't have to change yourself. Especially for a guy.

I really wanted to give this book a five star because I really liked it, but it still fell short of amazing. I think that if it went into more detail about some of the characters or events that happened in the book, the book would have been nothing short of amazing.

Still, I'd definitely recommend The Lonely Hearts Club to people because I really did enjoy it and the message that it gave.

Title: Arson
Author: Estevan Vega
Pages: 318
Publication: May 4, 2010
Publisher: Tate Publishing
Summary taken from goodreads:
Arson Gable feels like a freak. He can create fire. He never asked for it. He never wanted it. But he can't shut it off. Before now, three things were true: he both loved and despised his grandmother; his life was going nowhere; and he was alone. But when a strange girl—who feels more normal behind a mask than inside her own skin—moves in next door, Arson hopes to find something he's never had: purpose. Using what he fears most about himself, Arson must face his consuming past and confront the nightmare that is his present as he walks the fine line between boy and monster. Dark, moody, and breathtakingly relevant, Arson, the chilling chronicle of an isolated boy with unimaginable ability, is sure to ignite the hearts and minds of a new generation.
3 STARS - I LIKED IT ENOUGH

MY REVIEW:

This book actually deserves a four star for its plot, great characterizations, and portray of dysfunctional families, but because of my taste in books, I didn't really enjoy Arson that much since it was so far from what I usually read. That is a main reason why it took me a while to finish the book because I could only read small chunks of the story at a time.

Arson is dark, dysfunctional, and a little draggy at times. It's not my type of book, but who knows, it could be yours. :3

Summary taken from goodreads:
Is he a girl? Is she a boy?

Matthew's American cousin, Sam, has come to London to live with the family. Sam is a charismatic, funny kid, but can he be trusted to be a reliable friend? Matthew and his "mates" decide that Sam must undertake a challenge in order to prove himself: he must start off his new year at their school posing as a girl. It turns out that Sam makes a great girl. He fools everyone and has an electrifying effect at Bradbury Hill School. And the longer the prank goes on, the more hilarious -- and serious -- the repercussions.

This brilliant novel shines a laser-sharp beam into the perilous territory of early-teen life, in an unforgettable story of chaos, confusion, and cross-dressing.
5 STARS - IT WAS AMAZING!

MY REVIEW:

Boy2Girl is crazy, unique, hilarious, original, and touching. I could not put the book down for more than a few minutes before quickly snatching it up again because it was so riveting.

I can't properly write a review because I'm still gushing over the book and kind of sad that it's over, lol. But I definitely recommend it for people looking for a funny, lighthearted read!
