Book Review: Tomorrow, When the War Began (The Tomorrow Series, #1) by John Marsden

Title: Tomorrow, When the War Began (The Tomorrow Series, #1)
Author: John Marsden
Pages: 277
Publication: June 1, 2006
Publisher: Scholastic Paperbacks
Summary taken from goodreads:
When Ellie and six of her friends return home from a camping trip deep in the bush, they find things hideously wrong -- their families gone, houses empty and abandoned, pets and stock dead. Gradually they begin to comprehend that their country has been invaded and everyone in the town has been taken prisoner. As the horrible reality of the situation becomes evident they have to make a life-and-death decision: to run back into the bush and hide, to give themselves up to be with their families, or to stay and try to fight. This riveting, tautly-drawn novel seems at times to be only a step away from today's headlines.
5 STARS - IT WAS AMAZING!

My Review:

I don't even think I can write a proper review for this book because I'm still in awe of it's awesomeness. Here's trying! :D

Let me just say this: these teens know what they're doing even if they don't!

Combining action and suspense with humor and genius, John Marsden's Tomorrow, When the War Began is a great first book to a series about a group of teens finding out that they're country has been invaded after coming back from a camping trip.

But it's not all just action and adventure! Also in the book, John Marsden questions morality and humanity while combining the loss of innocence and the confusion of being a teen in love even at such dangerous times, which I absolutely loved because it gave the book depth and made you think.

Written in a style so easy and compelling, and full of emotion and excitement, I don't know who NOT to recommend this book to!
