E-sport God Series 2 “God Level Summoner”
E-sport God Series 3 “The King’s Return”
4 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:
Even though this is the second book in a trilogy, you don't have to read the first book to understand it since every book focuses on different characters. I think the first book focused on the formation of the gaming company that Li Cangyu joins and has a few surprise appearances of those characters in the book, so you're not missing out on much from skipping the first book.

As a gaming novel, the majority of the book is about Li Cangyu's journey going back to Miracle after leaving for 2 years and his ultimate rise with his new team and friends. He was a unique Summoner god known as Cat God famous for his speedy Summoner when he left the game two years ago, but with changing times, people forgot about him with new rookies and talents emerging every season. However, the original gaming gods who played against him from the beginning still remember him and anticipate his comeback.

In a way, it's similar to The King's Avatar. However, it's a lot shorter, less technical, and actually has romance. Along with the main couple, there's actually four side couples, and all of their interactions are hilarious as they slowly get together lol. The romance is definitely a slow burn. It takes a while to even meet the male lead! There's even the beginnings of romance between the younger characters, which was super cute.

Li Cangyu is really refreshing as a character. He might be slow on the uptake when it comes to his feelings, but once he realizes that he's in love, he's straightforward and direct. He's not shy or embarrassed about his feelings, nor does he act act coy or ashamed. It's just refreshing to see such a confident person in a relationship. There's no unnecessary jealousy or insecurities. Their relationship is full of mutual trust, respect, and support for each other. It really was a breath of fresh air reading such a cute and supportive relationship.

Also, all of the cat jokes and metaphors because of his name, Cat God, were super cute. Just imagine a lazy cat surrounded by several bright-eyed and bushy tailed kittens as they slowly become won over by him as he builds up his team. :D

This novel had me staying up late for three days straight reading it because I was unable to put it down. It had comedic moments, it had character growth, it had realistic conflict, it had fluffy moments, it had exciting matches, it had tension and anticipation and heartwarming moments that made you so proud of all of the characters.

Also, the international arc was super cute and long awaited!

I highly recommend this book if you like gaming novels. The sequel is about Cat God's and Demon King's successors, and I'm looking forward to binge reading it once it's fully translated because I love their dynamic lol.

More poetry! :)

I found this post buried in my drafts since 2014. It's been a long time, but I still wanted to share this because it's 6 years later, and I still really like these poems.

These poems were from Poems Porn which got suspended on Twitter (probably because of its name lol). Check them out.

I think I really like this last one because it's kind of what happened to me with David, lol. [Present me is laughing at myself because this post was originally created near the time I realized I was in love with him. Falling in love is a nice feeling; I can see why people chase after that feeling.]

I hope you enjoyed this 6 years in the making post lol.

Xia An: Hehe! I did not expect that all my dreams in the doomsdays were fulfilled! It’s a paradise here!

The heroine of the doomsdays who became beautiful day by day after getting transmigrated into a novel!
3 STARS - I LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:
So I didn't read the tags when I decided to read this novel, so I didn't know that there wasn't any romance. It wasn't until I was halfway through the book with no male lead in sight that I decided to look at the summary again and found out that this was not a romance book. However, that didn't detract from the story at all. Her interactions with her son is more than enough to make you laugh and give you the warm fuzzy feeling of found family.

Her son was super cute and clingy once he started getting close to her. His insecurity and struggles fleshed out his character and made you sympathize with his feelings. Lol all of the kids in here was super cute and funny.

Xia An was an interesting character because her perspective was completely different from people in the modern world. She lived in an apocalyptic world where survival was slim and food was scarce. She even had a useless ability to make her beautiful. You can't eat beauty! So when she found out that transmigrated to a modern world, she grateful to be in a peaceful world where food was available in excess. Sure, she had to deal with her host's problems, but at least she was alive and could eat. She's all about living freely.

Summary from Novel Updates:
Short and sweet story.

Boss X Employee
3 STARS - I LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:
This is a super short story of a moody CEO and his only employee who can detect his mood. It's super sweet and fluffy. Definitely recommended if you want a quick read to brighten up your day.

This is more of a slice of life funny interactions between the leads, so there's not much character development.

Author: Shi Liu Yue Xi
Chapters: 92 chapters
Publication: N/A
Summary from Novel Updates:
In the novel “Forced Love”, the female supporting character Huo Wu was a fake princess who had occupied someone else’s position for 18 years.

And everything she possessed should have belonged to the female lead.

After an accident, Huo Wu’s real identity was completely exposed.

She and the female lead returned to their respective places but she was still regarded by the female lead as a nail in her eye and a thorn in her flesh and ultimately came to a miserable end.

——————-

After Huo Wu, a small 18th line celebrity transmigrated into the character of the same name in the book, she shivered.

The female lead’s fighting abilities are too strong, she really can’t afford to offend her.

In order to avoid the ending in the book, she held on tightly to her “brother’s” thigh in order to seek protection.

His golden thighs were exceptionally strong and this top rated “brother” was powerful to the point where there was nothing he couldn’t do.

But…

How come she isn’t allowed to let go after holding onto him?

QAQ

———————

Huo Wu blinked her eyes, “Wouldn’t it be good if you were really my brother?”

Huo Yu Sen faintly refused, “No, I just want to be your man.”

———————

My brother is too good to me, what should I do?

What else can you do? Of course you should be together.

2.5 STARS - IT WAS OKAY

MY REVIEW:

This is another transmigration novel where the main character knows what happens in the plot and desperately tries to change the plot. In here, Huo Wu knows that her character setup is basically to be a cannon fodder for the female lead's eventual rise in the book. As such, she decides to suck up to her brother so that he'll help protect her in the future when the truth is exposed. She just didn't know that he started developing more than brotherly feelings for her along the way.

I think some people were hesitant to read this because the description sounds almost incestuous, but I didn't think so. For one, the summary already states that she's not blood related to him. Also, they grew up separated for most of her life. Huo Yu Sen left to study abroad for a long time, and the first time they met again was after Huo Wu transmigrated into the book.

Anyway, if that still bothers you, you're not missing out much in this book. It's your typical face slapping, girl slowly thawing the icy cool guy, hero saves the beauty, guy secretly protects the girl without her knowing, transmigration story. The author likes to reiterate a lot of the same details in between dialogue so it gets tiresome after a while. However, there were still some pretty cute interactions between the leads. That last plot twist at the end was so random though.

I MTL the novel so it was sometimes hard to understand. The novel's been translated a lot further along than when I first read it, so I would recommend waiting to read the translations lol.

JULY: Parents' Visit, Running Away to Archana's Place, Selling Our House BS, Visiting Parents, Broken A/C, Kpop, Gibbs Garden, & More Agent BS

July went by in a flash. A lot happened this month, which is probably why it went by so fast.

For the fourth of July and to celebrate my sis's birthday early, our parents came up to spend the weekend with us. Mom cooked up a feast all weekend, and we chilled around the house and watched shows half of the time. We decided to start watching Avatar: The Last Airbender since Kyle hadn't seen it yet and because dad remembered watching it with us when it first aired on tv years ago. Fun times lol.

Our neighborhood throws its own fireworks show, so Shelle and Kyle took dad to go watch it while I stayed back with mom while she did her medicine. We watched a lot of this Thai woman's mukbang videos that my mom was recently into.

Since we hadn't seen each other in a while, we through a pot luck at Archana's place the next Saturday. Originally, I was going to take her home and have her spend another week at our place again since she wanted company, but that day, she called me up and suggested that I spend a week at her place instead since she was on a cooking streak lol. So after I made my spicy mac&cheese, I quickly packed a bunch of pj's and drove over to her place lol.

Dude, for a pot luck, we basically made snacking food that you could eat all day. There was peach salsa, donut holes, spinach dip, mac&cheese, and pasta. We were so full by the end of the night since we kept on eating and catching up with each other lol. Everyone stayed over until pretty late, but Archana and I stayed up for another hour or two sitting outside on her balcony drinking masala chai and watching the skyline before going to bed. I feel like whenever I'm with Archana, I remember to stop and enjoy nature.

As a roommate, Archana is great. Lol she was like a mom half of the time since she kept on feeding me throughout the day. Typically, I usually drink masala chai in the morning as a warm start to my day, but she makes it throughout the day and drinks it like it's water lol. Then, she made a bunch of awesome Indian food that she'd never make for herself if she's alone because it's usually made in large portions. My entire stay there was full of food, drinks, and Netflix. We ended up binging The Big Flower Fight in two days because we were so invested in the floral arrangements lol. There's so many flowers I've never even heard of, too! It definitely inspired me for my next flower tattoo.

I was supposed to stay at her place for a week, but mom's blood pressure suddenly went low again, and she had to stay in the hospital to get blood transfusions and have a checkup for a few days. That's why I went down on Wednesday to stay with her for a few days after she got discharged from the hospital. Archana came down with me, too, because she wanted to help take care of mom. She's way too nice lol.

On Tuesday night, Shelle called to discuss when I should go down to visit mom, we found out that our selling agent, Scott, wanted to stop being our agent because we didn't take the first offer and are taking too long deliberating over if we want to take the second offer on our house. He sent a long, typo-ridden email to us saying that even though he begged with the buyer's agent to keep extending their wait period and that this is the second great offer we've had for the house that we're not accepting and all this other irrelevant bullshit about his coworkers (what does that have to do with us??).

So we got pissed. Through the documentation, we saw that he didn't get the offer until Saturday morning, but he didn't tell us until Sunday night about it. He was hounding us about the offer for the next two days even though he knows that our mom's been in the hospital and was our main priority since the rest of us were busy working as well. And he said on the phone that he understood and that our opinions were the his main priority. What two-faced bullshit was this?

He also said that he was going to unlist our house or something, which directly violated our contract that we signed to have our house listed until September. After we cooled off for a bit, Kyle helped write a super detailed response basically saying that half the things he did was in violation of our contract and that we demanded a prompt response lol.

The next morning, dad called Shelle and told her that he cooled off and just wanted to sell the house, so we had to keep contact with Scott and gave him a counter offer for the buyers. His prompt response was just telling us that we had two options: give the buyers a counter offer or he'll send us the documents to sign to officially delist our house. No apology or anything. When we gave him a counter offer, he had an immediate about-face and was super enthusiastic again. This just made us angrier because this whole scheme was him trying to trick us into accepting the offer so he could make a commission.

God, I'm still so pissed. If dad hadn't wanted us to sell the house, we would have dropped him immediately and sent off a bunch of evidence of him basically sucking at his job to his management! But now we're trying to be civil so that we can finish selling our house asap and never have to work with him again.

Shelle found his profile page for his company, which has a pic of him on it. I'm just saying...he looks like he bullies kids... Unfortunately, Shelle and Kyle met him recently and said that he looks like he got bullied as a kid, so I can't make fun of him about it anymore.

Anyway, after coming down to visit, mom ended up taking care of us because she felt a lot better after she got home lol. She made us meals and hungout with us all weekend. Shelle and Kyle drove down Thursday after work, so we had the whole family together that weekend. A hilarious incident happened in the sauna with Archana, but I've been told not to tell people yet lmao. Gotta wait for the embarrassment dies down a little more. I just died laughing every time I saw the sauna lol.

We also took Archana to Lane's Orchard on Friday after most of us had a frustrating day at work. Ugh, annoying coworkers are really annoying. I also don't like being suddenly voluntold to do something in the morning and having to finish by the end of the day, especially a Friday. However, the promise of fresh peach and strawberry ice cream really cooled us down and made the day enjoyable lol.

We stopped by the store on the way home to get vegetable broth and mushrooms so that we could make vegetarian pho for Archana. Shelle and Archana learned how to make it from mom, and it was pretty tasty!

I got interested in a show called YG Treasure Box, which was YG Entertainment's reality survivor show for their next debut group called Treasure, because I ran across a playlist on YouTube that was a playlist of all of Bang Yedam's original songs and covers he's done in the past few years and really enjoyed it. Then, I came across a playlist of all of the covers they sang throughout the YG Treasure Box, which included Bang Yedam in it.

It spiraled from there, so I ended up binge watching the show on Friday after work, and then hooking Shelle into watching the show with me because I was sitting on the couch laughing while watching the show. As soon as we casted it onto the living room tv, Brian and Archana also got suckered into watching it too. Lol, Archana started watching it when the members had to choose their partners, so she was like, "is this a dating show???" cuz they were doing back hugs and some members were sad because no one chose them and stuff.

Even though the show came out in 2018, the group hadn't debuted yet. It wasn't until after we finished the show that I looked them up and found out that they would debut on August 7th! Shelle and I have been constantly on the lookout for their new album since lol. (This is a note from the future: Treasure debuted, and it was awesome! I love their song!)

We went home on Saturday since we had already made plans to go to Gibbs Garden and look at the flowers on Sunday with some friends. However, after I dropped Archana off at her place (she made me masala chai and a sandwich for the road like a true mom lol), I found out from Shelle and Kyle, who came home earlier, that the A/C broke. The house was around 90 degrees when I got home. It was so hot and slightly humid on the ground floor and it got worse the further you walked upstairs. Luckily, the basement's A/C still worked, so we spent the next few nights sleeping on the theater room couches or the air mattress.

Poor Jessica, I invited her to spend the night at our place since she was going to Gibbs Garden with us the next day. It was her first time coming over to our next house since Covid prevented her from coming over before, and she had to sleep in the basement with us lol. Luckily, she was game and she also got sucked into watching the last few episodes of YG Treasure Box with us. I had gotten Shelle and Brian addicted to it earlier that day at the parents' house, and now we all wanted to finish watching it lol.

Since the A/C repairman was supposed to come over sometime the next day to check things out, Shelle and Kyle didn't come with us to Gibbs Garden. Instead, Jessica and I met up with Ebony and Liv at the place at 9:30am. Honestly, even though it was early morning, it gradually got hotter and more humid than the house at the time. Either way, we couldn't escape the heat. :/

However, the flowers were beautiful. Gibbs Garden has lots of scenic areas, which we got to see as we meandered around with Liv being super adorable the whole way lol. She started throwing a tantrum when she got hangry, so we decided to go to a Huddle House nearby for a quick meal.

Wow, what a mistake. We saw that we could order online and do curbside pickup, and it was supposed to be done in around 35 minutes. How come we had to call them twice to see if they were ready. The last call, they said they were almost done; they just needed to make our strawberry lemonades. But even 10-15 minutes later, they still weren't ready, so Ebony went inside to see what was taking so long only to find out that the food was already sitting on the counter. Wtf, we said curbside pickup, but we still had to go inside? And no one wore a face mask in there. Not even the cooks. We weren't even sure if we should have eaten the food, but we were all hangry, so we ate it anyway.

Should food be more tasty when you're starving? How come everything was decent? Jessica even went in to ask them about our pecan praline waffle because it looked and tasted like a plain waffle. The girl at the register got an attitude with her and told her to flip the waffle over to see the pecans cuz it sunk to the bottom. If that's a problem, then why don't they flip the waffle over before serving it???

We left that place unsatisfied.

The A/C was fixed on Monday, but it took until around 10pm for the house to cool down enough for us to sleep back upstairs in our rooms. I've never appreciated air conditioning as much as I have that weekend lol.

That Thursday, Scott got back to us about the home inspection report and amendments and said that he would be gone all weekend but would check his email frequently. He didn't go over the report with us, didn't offer any advice, didn't do jack shit and essentially left us hanging. I just want to strangle him. That's why we decided to go visit the parents again that weekend to go over the inspection report and get quotes because the report said that there were leaks in master bathroom's toilet and bathtub and water stains. This was news to us since it apparently happened sometime in the last three weeks since Scott inspected the house. And the buyer's agent said that the A/C wasn't working the last time she visited the house.

To make things even better, the day we drove down, we found out that the garage was broken. Well, we found out a lot of things that day. Apparently, no one had a key to the house and neither did they ask us for a key?? Instead, the lockbox on the front door had the garage passcode while the door was unlocked. However, I'm not sure if the keypad wasn't working or not, but agents were just lifting the garage door up because that worked, too?

Anyway, one of our neighbors told dad that he saw some teenagers trying to lift the garage door the night before, so we think they might have saw some agents do it before and tried to break into the garage. So now the right side of the garage door was lifted a foot off the ground and hanging off of the frame incorrectly. We had to hire a repair company to completely replace the frame.

This whole process makes me not want to ever own or sell a house lol. I'll just be a renter for life lmao.

We went back down to our parents' house that weekend to meet with James and Scott to go over house repairs and next steps. We had to hire a garage repair company because it was beyond fixing the frame, which got bent the side where someone tried to lift up the corner of the garage door. James said he'd fix some of the smaller issues like the screen in the backyard, and dad fixed the master bathroom's toilet leaking issue.

We stayed down there until Monday night because Shelle and Kyle wanted to meet with Scott in person to go over the house inspection in person as well as the buyers' agent. I didn't want to go because I was lazy lol. It's even more hot and humid in Middle Georgia compared to where we are in North Georgia!

Anyway, that's basically it. July was a long and busy month. This is a really long post. I guess this makes up for how short June's post was lol.

Webnovel Review: My Husband With Scholar Syndrome by Grumpy Crab

Author: Grumpy Crab
Chapters: 77 chapters + 5 extras
Publication: 2019
Summary from Novel Updates:
Mu Xiaoya lived for twenty-six years before she knew that she had a sudden genetic disease. There was no medicine for it, and there was only death waiting for her.

Before she died, many people came to see her, but she was most impressed by Bai Chuan.

Bai Chuan was her neighbor, an autistic child with scholar’s syndrome. At that time, his face full of scars was desperate: “I – I studied all your medical records, but I have no way to save you.”

Mu Xiaoya was stunned: “You are a doctor?”

Bai Chuan: “I am not… …”

Mu Xiaoya’s disease was a genetic disease. Unless the gene was changed, there was no possibility of cure. However, Bai Chuan was the only person who tried to cure her after she fell ill.

Mu Xiaoya: “Why are you going to cure me?”

Bai Chuan: “I want to marry you.”

Mu Xiaoya laughed: “If you marry me, you will soon become a widower.”

Bai Chuan insisted: “I – I want to marry you.”

Bai Chuan, who has cognitive impairments, can’t express his meaning very well, and can only repeat it over and over again.

Later, Mu Xiaoya still died. When she woke up, she returned to the summer of her college graduation.

Bai Chuan: “I… I want to marry you.”

Mu Xiaoya: “Good.”

The starlight in the eyes of Bai Chuan was the most beautiful scenery that Mu Xiaoya had ever seen in her life.
4.5 STARS - I REALLY LIKED IT

MY REVIEW:

I decided to read this after finding out that it was the same author as Rebirth on the Doors to the Civil Affairs Bureau, since I really enjoyed that book (here's my review if you're interested). Plus, this book's summary sounded pretty interesting, too.

This was an incredibly soft and warm novel that's like hugging your best friend after not seeing them for so long (cuz you know, quarantine). You get the warm fuzzies and lingering happiness of seeing a familiar face that's like family. That's how I feel about Mu Xiaoya and Bai Chuan and their families.

After Mu Xiaoya dies, she gets taken back to a few years ago to the day that Bai Chuan, her autistic childhood friend, first proposed marriage to her. Originally, she rejected him, but now coupled with her knowledge of both of their futures, she recklessly agrees. What started as a marriage of convenience eventually leads to a heartwarming marriage full of love and support.

Mu Xiaoya was an awesome main character. She knows that she'll die in a couple of years again and doesn't hesitate to change her priorities. She wants to spend more time with her family while she still can, and she wants Bai Chuan, who left her an impression on her before she previously died, to have a better ending as well.

Bai Chaun has scholar's syndrome, which makes him incredibly smart but only focused on a few things or people. Out of his family, only his grandma was able to get through him. Other than her, Mu Xiaoya was the only other person who could reach out to him. So after she agrees to the marriage, he tries his best to become better so that Mu Xiaoya won't leave him.

There's a lot of misunderstandings and incidents that happen as they start to understand each other. Watching both of them grow together and support each other every step of the way was so sweet and hilarious. Both of their families also play big roles in the novel, and seeing them slowly accept and adjust to their marriage was also very realistic and heartfelt. Only... poor Bai Chuan's big bro always gets the short end of the stick lol. He always ends up getting the blame for Bai Chuan. Luckily, this guy is a tsundere bro-con and everyone (even his company employees) knows it lol.
