Shows I'm Currently Watching: My Hero Academia, Fukumenkei Noise, The King's Avatar, Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys, Sherlock

Normally, I'm the type of person who watches anime after the season is already completed, but somehow, I've gotten into watching four anime this season and have been keeping up with them every week for the past month or so. All I know is that it all started with me wanting to watch My Hero Academia every week since I had already read the manga months ago. Then I kept on getting interested in other anime as they came out, and here I am, keeping up with four different series every week while binge watching completed series in between them all.

CURRENTLY WATCHING:

It's as good as the manga that's for sure. This anime is really good at building up the tension and then ending on an epic cliffhanger that makes you burn in anticipation for the next episode. Now I remember how I sped through the first season so quickly--those cliffhangers killed me! I had to immediately go to the next episode! Lol, I feel like I am I even more impatient for the next episode since I already know what's going to happen next.

The main character definitely has a one-tracked mind, which doesn't maker her as likeable because she's so focused on finding her long-lost friend that she basically becomes insensitive to the people around her most of the time. That, and it messes with her emotions so bad that she creates bad situations for the people around her. I'm not super into this anime and am a few episodes behind, but I still want to continue it to see what happens, lol.

This is actually a Chinese MMORPG based anime that my bro told me about. It's a little confusing because there's so many characters introduced in most episodes, but the fight scenes are cool, and I like how unflappable the main character is. The anime's based off of a light novel series with the same name, which gives a lot more info about the plot compared to the anime. I think there's only one or two more episodes left of the season, so I might start reading the online translations of the novels after the anime is over.

This is an 8-minute episode anime that's based off of a dating game with the same name that was probably made to promote the international release of the game. It has gender bender and martial arts/fighting, which grabbed my attention, lol. Overall, it's pretty entertaining for such short episodes. I just wished that the episodes were longer.

The newest season was finally added onto Netflix, so I started watching it. The ending of the first episode shocked me so much that I haven't brought myself to watch the last episode yet, lol. That, and I haven't had much time for myself to basically watch a movie, lol.

FINISHED WATCHING:

One of the protagonists is a badass deaf samurai. Enough said. It's violent and interesting and heartbreaking learning about people's histories, and the soundtrack is awesome! Definitely give it a watch.

This is more of a who-did-it mystery set in a fantasy adventure setting. I liked the art and character designs for the most part, which initially grabbed my attention. It was also fun trying to figure out who the traitor was, but that ending killed me. Like, wtf?! This anime is also based on a light novel series, with the anime based off of the first book. A lot of people who read the books said that the second novel is better, so I'm tempted to read the series now and figure out what is going on, lol.

I think the English translation for this is called Full Time Magister. This is a Chinese anime that I started watching mainly because I really liked The King's Avatar and was curious about what other Chinese anime was like. Unfortunately, this anime was pretty subpar, especially in comparison to The King's Avatar and Japanese anime in general. Even though this anime only came out last year, the difference in quality was astounding. In general, the anime reminded me of early '90s anime in terms of exposition, voice acting, comedic humor, and action scenes. Man, the action scenes were pretty disappointing; they were slow, the animation didn't make it look exciting, and I felt like the amount of time it took for the characters to talk lessoned the tension. Also, I felt like everything was too convenient for the protagonist, which made everything less interesting.

But, I did watch the entire season, even though it was only 10 episodes long, so what does that say about me? Lol.
